If the boys didn't play on Monday/Tuesday then wouldn't the girls have to? I'm not sure how that is "PC Oscar Mayer Bologna". Isn't it affecting a student either way?

There are nine total days allotted for the boys and girls regional tournaments. Within those dates are one Friday and one Saturday. Somebody has to play during the week. I highly doubt any coach or player is complaining, not celebrating, and not reflecting on the end of their career because they've got first block math the next day.

Working a schedule out to where they could both play on a weekend is amazingly simple. If it weren't PC then why quit alternating it??? As a Coach and having played I can assure you Finishing the Regional Tournament during the week is a real shame for boys or girls.

They alternate it because the girls state tournament is typically the week before the boys state tournament, which is based on availability of arena facilities. It has nothing to do with PC and everything to do with when Rupp Arena and NKU's arena are available - dates usually secured well in advance.

Keep telling yourself that its about dates and location, just wrong. Have the tournament finals on the weekend, it's a no brainer. The system wasn't broke there was no reason to try to fix it.

It is about the dates. Whichever state tournament is first determines the days of the regional tournament.

Here you go PB - regionals (boys and girls) start Monday, February 26. Girls state tournament starts Wednesday, March 7. Set us up a schedule that:

    1) has all girls games at one location and all boys games at one location.

    2) doesn't have conflicting games where fans have to choose one site over the other, thus hurting gate at both.

    3) gets the girls finished in time to prepare (game prep, as well as hotels and other logistical concerns) for the first state tournament game on Wednesday.

Is all this date stuff just so the tourney can line up to be held at Rupp Arena

My criteria are play the finals if not the semi finals and finals on the weekend. It worked for years. Go look up the schedule. Easy.

So what you're really saying is play the boys on Friday/Saturday and give the girls the scraps, even if that means playing their regional championship on Tuesday night and then they have to start their state tournament the next day?

I want to see your schedule plan. How hard is it? You said it was done for years. Unless the years you're talking about are before 1975, then it has to factor in the girls regional as well. How do you make that work?

If during the week is scraps then that is what the boys get every year. Thanks for making my point.
