From my original comment--speaking to someone who has some knowledge of the situation--this was not the case. At least two other candidates who were more than qualified and with experience.

Did the other 2 candidates accept Jesus Christ as their personal savior and do they attend church regularly as is required? Just wondering why 2 more qualified candidates with experience passed on the job. I know CC is very rigid in their requirements of faith.

I can say with certainty that at least one candidate meets all of Calvary's requirements. Does Brown meet those requirements? I don't know. I'm asking out of curiosity. To my knowledge, Brown was the only one offered the job. No one passed on it. From the sound of it, they locked in on him and waited for him to make a decision.

CC is a faith-based school so why wouldn't they have requirements on faith? And ManofTroy said "two other candidates who were more than qualified" as opposed to "more qualified." Not suggesting they were more qualified than Brown.

I'm not bashing CC's requirements. I was asking because I was aware of their stipulations which are a bit more strict than other faith based schools.

I would say that one of the candidates was "more qualified" in the sense of never having a record of leaving a team mid-season for a week long cruise. The fact that this same candidate runs a youth group at a local church would rank high on Calvary's radar, if the wanting someone with accepted faith is true.

Who knows, but if they did wait to hire him thus missing out on an entire summer to run camps, etc, then shame on them. Awesome hire if you can make it happen at the opportune time, but if they waited past summer camp opportunities, etc just to make a splash with a name, shame on them! If they did have to wait on Brown it was simply so he could have the time after the camps he runs for personal gain.

I want great things for Calvary, have some connections there, but we will revisit this thread when this hire doesn't go quite as they planned.

On the surface, I call it into question. If CC wanted this coach, interviewed in spring, and didn't get him until after the summer, then I would have lots more questions.....

Given the seemingly revolving door of Head Bball Coaches and AD's, none of this is a surprise....CC has a mission, I think it's a great one. They put life priorities ahead of sport priorities, again, great thing.

I suspect that at least some parents have some legitimate grumbling...just because a school superimposes a standard over the skill set of coaching, doesn't mean that they don't want a solid place for their kids to play.

First paragraph--it has been established, that is what happened.
Second paragraph--it is a great thing and they should hold those standards.
Third paragraph--I don't think it's too much to ask for solid coaching and hold to the school's standards. I'm not sure if they got either from what some have said.

Do not disagree with anything you have said...

As for the final part, time will tell....and it will work itself out one way or the other
