Covington Catholic's record book has seen a few notable changes since head coach Scott Ruthsatz took over the school's basketball program in the 2011/12 season - most notably due to the presence of players Cole VonHandorf and Nick Ruthsatz. Not only are they the #1 and #2 scorers, respectively, in the school's 1,000 Point Club, but the two of them also combine for possession of nine of the Colonels Basketball Program's thirty-one total individual records. That should come as little surprise if you take into consideration the fact that Nick and Cole were both absolutely integral in leading Cov Cath to their 2014 basketball state championship.

It's also worth noting that Bo Schuh (2012-15) is yet another member of the 2014 state championship team to make his way into the Covington Catholic 1,000 Point Club, with his 1,089 career points.
This season, Cov Cath has found their place among the top 5 boys basketball teams in the state for the majority of the season. Once again, rising out of that success, there are two new members to the school's 1,000 point club: Iowa Hawkeyes commit CJ Fredrick, and Christian Brothers commit Aiden Ruthsatz.
An addition to those two making the millenium mark, once again, Covington Catholic has basketball records looking to be broken:
Single-Season records on pace to be broken:
Jake Walter has gone 117-157 on field goals this season – good for 74.5%. That would shatter the current Cov Cath single-season record of 62.9% held by Jay McCoy (1984/85).
Nick Thelen is also on pace to best the current field goal percentage mark. He’s 65-101 on the season – good for 64.4%.
CJ Fredrick is on pace for 98 made 3-pointers this season (35 games, assuming they play in the regional final) that would pass up the current single season record of 89 held by Nick Shipley (1992/93).
Aiden Ruthsatz is just on the fringe of also surpassing the made 3-pointers number. He is on pace for 88 made 3’s.
Aiden Ruthsatz is currently 89-99 from the foul line this season. That’s 89.9%, and would best the current single season mark of 88.5% also held by by Nick Shipley (1992/93).
Career records in jeopardy:
Jake Walter’s current career field goal percentage is 64.0% (235-367); this would best Jay McCoy’s record of 61.1% (1984-86).
Aiden Ruthsatz is on pace to take over record for career free throw percentage. He’s currently 222-261 or 85.1%. The current mark is held by Cole VonHandorf at 83.9% (2014-17).
