Clinton County led Hazard in the 4th quarter at Richmond before running out of gas. They closed the deal agaist South Laurel.

St. John picked up an over the back call, his second, and then proceeded to yell out bullcrap or soomething a whole lot like that and waved his arms in disgust. He was given a technical. He really didn't play well until he came back in the 2nd half. South looked very uninspired and got whipped in every aspect of the game, you can tell they have alot of talent. They also shot very poorly from behind the line.
Clinton County is a good team that starts 4 juniors. They will be a very good team next year. Coach Messer does a great job getting these kids ready to play.
Feb 11, 09, 09:03 PM #18I agree with you. From what I was told South didn't seem inspired and you can't do that against Clinton. They are better than many think.
Feb 11, 09, 10:23 PM #19And maybe the SL coaches spent too much time at the Corbin/Middlesboro game the night before worrying about the Hounds when they should have been worrying about Clinton Co.? Its just a thought.

From reading past posts it seems to me that you are bothered with South scouting a Corbin game. So what if they were scouting a Corbin/Middlesboro game with EACH TEAM coming from the same region South plays in. You can never overscout and there is nothing wrong with that.
They lost to a good Clinton team and I'm sure the loss will be forgotten once post-season play begins. They don't have to beat Clinton to reach the state, but they might see Corbim twice down the road, if they can get past Whitley.
Just a thought.

Obviously your comments are correct...I agree. I have no problem with coaches scouting at all but some or all of SL's coaches have been to every Corbin game practically. What on earth can you learn now that you didnt on the first dozen or so games that you watched and took notes on? Heck, I wouldnt be surprised to see the SL coaches show up at the district tourney with shaved heads and wearing a UT Vols shirt.
Feb 11, 09, 10:47 PM #22I don't see the big problem with them scouting Corbin the entire season if they want. That tells me that they know the road to Rupp goes through the Redhounds. I mean South's coaching staff must know something since they are unbeaten in post-season play since moving from the 12th Region. And, they've also won a state title, too, so I really don't know why anyone would question a staff that's trying to find a way to beat the region's best team.

Nothing wrong with scouting a team a lot. I'll be you Todd Messer had a great scouting report on South Laurel. Glad to see he and his team get a big win.
