Dec 12, 17, 07:07 PM #32Watched a replay of Oak Hills at Moeller from Tuesday, 12/5.
Observations from that game, with season stats gleaned from cincinnati.com -
High School Prep Sports
The first four players are first year starters:
Jaxson Hayes, F (Texas commit) - Averaging 8 rpg, and 4.3 blocks pg. Mobile, runs well and has a good handle. Good passer in sets, but with some wild outlet throws. Scrappy and active on D - play of the game was a half court steal with a breakaway windmill dunk. Looking forward to the matchup with Jake Walter.
Jeremiah Davenport, G (Wright State commit) - 8 rpg. Long and athletic. Tough defender.
Alec Pfriem, F (Roger Bacon transfer - 13.1 ppg last season) - 3.7 apg. Handled the ball a lot. Calm and cool.
Carlos Garcia, F - Solid, but the number five scoring option when on the floor.
Isaiah "Sleepy" Payton, PG - The lone returning starter. Everywhere on O and D. Can create and moves well without the ball. Did I say quick? Quick! Can be pressured, 1.1 A/T ratio.
Leading scorer at 18 ppg, shooting FG 61% / 3pt 45% / FT 79% for the year. 3 apg. Interesting matchup for Aiden Ruthsatz.
Against Oak Hills - Disciplined. Typical Crusader basketball. Still finding themselves with so many new pieces.
Deliberate half court offense, minimum 5 passes. Moved the ball well around the perimeter, to the inside, but also inside out. High percentage shot selection.
No pressure D or many traps, but tight man-to-man coverage.
