I think WV should be the favorite. They were already a top 2-3 team going into the season before they got Stanley who I feel is the best PG in the region.

It is hard to argue that logic. My only worry with them is the fact that Stanley never got the chance to play with them over the summer and with so many of their main guys playing football it will still be a while before they are together. I don't think we will see the best of WV until late January/February. I can see them losing early season games to Anderson and Oldham Co.

Good thing regular season HS basketball doesn't mean anything outside of pride. I think WV will be hitting on all cylinders come district tournament.

    10.) Grant County
Watched several of these teams this summer and was able to see a few of the players from some of the top teams in AAU games and different camps. This is what I see the rankings being based upon what I have seen.

    1. Walton Verona
    2. Collins
    3. Anderson County
    4. Oldham County
    5. Simon Kenton
    6. Spencer County
    7. North Oldham
    8. South Oldham
    9. Gallatin
    10. Grant County

Coby Penny is the best player in the region. Saw him several times this summer and he has really improved (not an Anderson County fan). College attention reflects that. South Oldham is really going to be down. Collins is going to be very good again( starting five is very good). Just my two cents.

    I agree.
I think any of the top 5 could win the region. I think the 8th will have more strong teams this year.

8th could be wide open this year.

Could be Glen Drury's last year in Anderson County(??) If so, give the Bearcats a big emotional boost....

Lots of teams, though, with a very legitimate claim to be a contender.

I have heard this said by some Anderson basketball insiders...best team they have had in several years, to include the 2009 CJ Penny lead 2009 8th region winner team.

    It’s Walton Verona’s year.

Who are Anderson's projected starters beside Garmon and Penny?

WV would most likely start this line up based on how they finished last season:
    Miles- C
    Clinkenbeard- F/G
    Lay- G
    Jones- G
    Stanley- PG

They could easily slide Pardee (F) in for Jones depending on match ups. With Grubbs/Shazier and 6'8 Brook off the bench. Very deep team.

The 8th is Anderson’s to lose.
    Collins will probably win it.
You guys can talk all you want but it will be between those 2 and I will throw Simon Kenton into the mix.
WV, spencer Williamstown Owen etc will not win the 8th. Too many good teams playing with experience when it comes to that time of year.

I agree that Anderson should have the top ranking but it would not shock me one bit to see WV, Oldham Cty, SK, or Collins win this thing at the end of the year. WV will not wow anyone the first month of the year, half of their top 8 guys play football but I would not want to see them at the end of the year in a one and done tournament. I think the same will be said for Anderson, Oldham Cty and Collins at the end of the year. Those top 4 are very good teams, I also think SK and Spencer are not too far off and could beat any of them on the right night. Should be a great year of ball in the 8th.

Not sure why Anderson County is the favorite I seen them play last year. SK had no problem beating them.

Garman graduated. Anderson does return 3 senior starters in Penny, Gritton and Pittman. The other two spots are up for grabs with several Sophs making their cases to start. Gritton is often overlooked but he did average a double double last year.

Walton Verona will be hard to score against.
