Five of the top 8 are from Jefferson County. Only 2 will make it to Rupp.
The "Golden Triangle" is well represented in this list.

Actually, I'd put Trinity, Scott County and Cov Cath as those "3". Then i'd put Madison Central on the "door step" as a team that could fight to be in that group. Then you have 5-15 that are all really close. Then 15-30 are all really close.

I think their results certainly merit a ranking, unless it is based on the fact that they won't have their best player moving forward.
I was going to say the same thing.

As an aside, how about the week that Lexington Christian has scheduled for themselves to finish the regular season: at #10 Lafayette, at #11 Bryan Station, and at #2 Trinity.

However, the game of the week has to be Friday night in Richmond, #3 CovCath traveling to take on #5, and white-hot, Madison Central. That should be a heck of a way to get yourself prepared for the post-season.

What a terrible loss for them. Great kid.
They lost Payne and still beat LCA though.

They lost him on the last play of regulation. They played the overtime without him and were quite obviously very emotional and motivated to win for him.

There could be some of that motivation moving forward but I think in the long run they will suffer without him.

BGP has it's very own rankings staff(s).

I agree but that still doesn’t mean they aren’t a top 20 team. They were 13th last week. Got whipped by Madison Central, then defeated LCA and Taylor County and then dropped out? That’s too steep of a drop IMO.

    I don't necessarily disagree.

Agreed. If you see a steep decline in their play without Payne, go ahead and drop them. But to arbitrarily drop them because it is assumed they won't be as good as they have been to this point seems unfair to me.

I'm anxious for their matchup on Friday night.

There are two teams in the 8th region that are better than Walton Verona in my opinion--Oldham County and Collins.

Add that into the fact that Region's 7 and 11 (#1 Scott County) will play in the first round, a lot of top teams will be out by the Elite 8.

Yes, and an early upset or two at Rupp would really open things up.
