I'm a bit disappointed that Dixie hasn't done a tremendous amount of anything over the past few weeks to justify a higher ranking like I had first proposed. They've yet to have any real signature wins, and while playing Campbell Co, Collins, Holy Cross, and Owensboro Catholic close, they still didn't get over the hump with them.

The next six games should be telling when they face St. Henry, Ryle, Oldham Co., Conner, Highlands, and Lloyd. If they end up laying an egg with all of that then I'll start considering just how I would like my crow prepared.

Anybody voting in the coaches poll would have a hard time sorting out 3-10 at this point. A lot of games to be played and by mid-January we may have a better idea of who is who.

From what I have seen if Newport plays the way they are capable I would put them at #3..

You are right! The top two teams are Cooper and CovCath, but 3-10 is very difficult to rank. I think by the end of the season NewCath will be the third best team, but let's see how Boone County does the next week or two since they beat NewCath. I thought Newport would be good, but their lack of free throw shooting has me worried. Their loss to Holmes is a hard one to figure.

    2 things:
-Newport Free Throw percentage worries you.... NewCath (who you’ll have 3rd) is approx. 68% from the FT stripe)

    Also,

    Newport- 71%
    NewCath- 68%
    Boone- 74%
    Cooper- 73%
    CCH- 79%

CCH is the clear favorite if FTs are a sole contributor.

Also, a Newport loss to Holmes in the 4th or 5th game of the year baffles you, but you’re willing to give Boone another week or 2? And, NCC is your 3rd when Boone beat them?

Can’t we just say Cooper & CCH are clear 1/2, 3-5 is a distance behind, and 6-10 are interchangeable parts, with ability to potentially beat anyone. Seems simple.

Cooper was up by as many as 14 and held on, so be it.
There was a separate thread started that had no less than 8 reasons why CCH lost that game. It is what it is and they will play at least once more which I personally think the outcome might be the same on the larger floor, but if not everyone should just tip their hat to the better team that night and move on and stop with “reasoning” why their team didn’t win. None of the mid-season rankings mean much anyway.
I’m with you in that these games mean nothing, and are nothing but for banter and fun for the kids until the tourney starts. I do hope both teams will be healthy then, but I am not 100% sure AJ plays in next week’s contest as well.
