2017-2018 12th Region Weekly Updates

It was a short week of basketball last week. The first winter storm of 2018 wiped out the end of the week’s games either canceling or postponing some big matchups. However, there were still enough games played to cause some movement in this week’s rankings. Take a look and see how your team fairs this week in the 12th Region.

12th Region Rankings:

1) Pulaski County Maroons (12-3) – The Maroons extended their winning streak to eight games last week as they beat Somerset 87-62 and Lincoln County 60-53. In the win over Somerset, Steven Fitzgerald scored 33 points to lead all scores. Fitzgerald was out with an injury against Lincoln County but Jacob Combs stepped up with 17 points and Danny Butt added 16 points to lead the Maroons in the win over the Patriots.
This week the Maroons start the week hosting Casey County. They will then hit the road to play George Rogers Clark in the Tim Short Automotive Classic and play Pleasure Ridge Park in the Jaguar Classic at East Jessamine.

2) Mercer County Titans (12-4) – Last week the Titans were going to take a trip to Nashville to play in the Music City Classic but instead they got a week off due to the snow.
This week the Titans gear up for a big Friday night rivalry game as they travel to West Jessamine for a 46th District showdown. They will then host Whitley County the following night.

3) West Jessamine Colts (11-2) – Last week the Colts only played one game and they lost to Lexington Christian 63-88. In the loss, Drew Cook led the way with 24 points and Dalton Bruner added 20 points.
This week the Colts will really challenge themselves as they travel to Madison Central, host district rival Mercer County, then finish off the week in the Jaguar Classic playing Lexington Catholic.

4) Boyle County Rebels (9-4) – The Rebels picked up a big win last week over 45th District and cross-town rival Danville 42-35. The other big gave versus Lincoln County was postponed due to the snow. In the win over Danville, Jason Alexander led the way with 17 points while Reese Smith added 12 points.
This week the Rebels host Collins then travel to Garrard County.

5) Somerset Briar Jumpers (15-3) – The Jumpers only game last week was a loss to cross-town rival Pulaski County 62-87. Trae Harmon led the Jumpers with 14 points while Kade Grundy and Kross Grundy added 12 apiece.
This week the Jumpers are focused on the All A Classic. It has been four years since the Jumpers won the 12th Region All A and to win it this year they first have to get through Danville Tuesday night at Somerset.

6) Southwestern Warriors (8-6) – The Warriors lost to Perry County Central 37-44 in the only game they played last week. The big cross-town rivalry game versus Pulaski County was postponed due to the snow.
This week the Warriors host Russell County then travel to McCreary Central for a 48th District challenge.

7) Lincoln County Patriots (9-9)
– The Patriots lost to Pulaski County in a close game 53-60 in the only game of the week due to weather. In the loss, Spencer Baird and Chase Phillips each scored 16 points for the Patriots.
This week the Patriots travel to Garrard County, host Madison Central, and then travel to East Jessamine to play Corbin in the Jaguar Classic.

8) Wayne County Cardinals (10-8) – The Cardinals was perfect last week as they beat Taylor County 50-45 and McCreary Central 54-48. In the win over Taylor County Jakson Baker led the way with 15 points. In the win over McCreary Central, Stetson Simpson was high scorer with 19 points.
This week the Cardinals are on the road as the travel to Rockcastle County then go to Scott County to play LaRue County in the Toyota Classic.

9) Danville Admirals (6-10) – The Admirals lost the only game they played last week and it was to cross-town rival Boyle County 35-42. In the loss, Zach Thorton led with 12 points while Jared Southerland added 11 points.
This week the Admirals are focused on returning to the Class A State Tournament for the 4th straight year. However, to do that they have to travel to Somerset to win the 12th Region All A title first.

10) McCreary Central Raiders (6-10) – The Raiders lost both games they played last week. They lost to Russell County 59-64 and Wayne County 48-54. John Cash was leading scorer versus Russell County with 15 points and Hunter Jones had 18 points in the loss to Wayne County.
This week the Raider look to get back on track as they host Bell County and Southwestern before traveling to East Jessamine to play Eastern in the Jaguar Classic.

11) East Jessamine Jaguars (5-13) – The Jaguars lost to Western Hills 49-57 in the only game they played last week.
This week is a busy week for the Jaguars as they host Lexington Catholic, travel to Casey County, return home to play Thomas Nelson, then finish the week hosting Tates Creek in the Jaguar Classic.

12) Garrard County Golden Lions (4-13) – The Golden Lions only played one game last week and it was a loss to Estill County 41-67.
This week Garrard County will play Boyle County and Lincoln County at home then travel to Hazard to end the week.

13) Rockcastle County Rockets (4-13) – The Rockets lost both games they played last week. They lost to North Laurel 63-81 and to Casey County 63-69.
This week the Rockets will host Wayne County for their only game schedule.

14) Casey County Rebels (1-16) – The Rebels finally picked up their first win of the season as they defeated Rockcastle County 69-63 in a 47th District showdown. They lost earlier in the week to Anderson County 37-80.
This week the Rebels travel to Pulaski County, host East Jessamine, then go to Lee County to end the week.

15) Burgin Bulldogs (5-8) – The Bulldogs were snowed out last week and did not play any games. This week they get to travel to Somerset to play Washington County in the 12th Region All A Classic.

16) Kentucky School f/t Deaf Colonels (0-13) – The Colonels lost in a close game to Oneida Baptist Institute 61-63 in the only game they played last week.
This week the Colonels travel to Alabama to play in the 66th Annual Boys Mason-Dixon Tournament.
