This week marks the final week of the regular season, and not much has changed in the rankings. Our number one hasn't lost since 2017, our number two hasn't lost a region game all season, and our 16 and 17 haven't won a 10th region game yet. Let's take a quick look at last week and see how we look with the post-season just around the corner.

    1. Clark County (25-3, 12-1 region). Coach Cook's Cardinals extended their streak to 15 with three victories last week. They started out slow in a 15-point win over Madison Southern but pulled away behind 25 from Ryan Cooper and 15 each from Jared Wellman and Brennan Canada. The Cards were outrebounded by Montgomery County, but prevailed 70-50 in Mt. Sterling in a game that saw them commit a season-low 4 turnovers; then steamrolled over Bracken County by 51 on Saturday. They look to make it 17 straight heading into the District tournament with games at Frederick Douglass and Henry Clay.

    2. Campbell County (21-5, 10-0 region). The Camels had a hiccup at Simon Kenton, falling 81-80 to the Pioneers. Reid Jolly (25), Tanner Clos (22) and Joel Day (19) led the Camels in scoring. The next evening saw Campbell edge Pendleton County 71-61 behind Day and Jolly and with solid support from Tanner Lawrence and Drew Wilson. The Camels entertain Boone County and Ryle this week.

    3. Pendleton County (21-6, 13-3 region). The Wildcats were without the services of big man Adam Antrobus this week, who is nursing an injury. Dontaie Allen scored 25 in the loss to Campbell. No problems with Montgomery County (78-46), and the Cats hit their season high-water mark in a 97-97 win over Grant County with Allen pouring in 39 and Grant Walsh coming up a single point shy of joining the 1,000-point club with his 29 point effort. Bourbon County and Paris (should be a good one) finish the regular season.

    4. Scott (18-7, 5-3 region). While not overly impressive in home wins over Ryle and Conner, Scott did enough to hang on to the number 4 spot in the rankings. Five Eagles hit double digits, led by Nelson Perrin and Noah Joyce (18 and 17). Joyce, Perrin and Chad Ohmer led the scoring parade in the 75-61 Conner game as the Eagles scored 55 in the second half. Ludlow, Grant County and Cooper round out Scott's final week of the regular season.

    5. Paris (19-6, 11-4 region). The Greyhounds are the second-hottest squad in the 10th, having reeled off 8 straight wins on the strength of 12-point wins at Lawrence County and Harrison County last week. Eric Johnson continues to lead Paris in scoring (19) and rebounds (5.9), with Travis Strings second in both categories. Pendleton County and Tates Creek are on tap this week.

    6. Bishop Brossart (13-11, 6-4 region). The Mustangs won their only game last week, 58-38 over Calvary Christian. Zach Hamberg, Ethan Elierman and J.D. Schumacher pace Brossart in scoring and rebounds. Bellevue away and Mason County at home this week.

    7. Mason County (15-11, 5-6 region). The Jeykyll-Hyde persona was evidenced again last week, as the Royals ran past Ashland 91-80 in a track meet disguised as a basketball game on Monday behind a career-high 25 from Xylon Frey, 27 from Leevi Dunaway and 22 from Jaylen Lofton. Mr. Hyde showed up on Friday, as the Royals squandered a late lead via multiple turnovers in a 61-57 loss to improving Harrison County. Jaylen Lofton posted a 17/12 double-double in the loss. Mason is on the road at Rowan County and Bishop Brossart this week.

    8. Harrison County (9-17, 4-7 region). The Breds went 2-3 in what was a busy week; highlighted by the come-from-behind win at The Fieldhouse. Braden Bryant hit three triples in the second half to lead the team with 17 points, and Spencer Free added 16 in the win. Losses to Holmes, Paris and Breathitt County and a win over Williamstown completed the week. Harrison hosts 40th-district foes Montgomery County and Bourbon County this week.

    9. Montgomery County (12-14, 5-9 region). The Indians got by Nicholas County 69-60 prior to falling to region powerhouses Clark County and Pendleton County last week. Powell County at home and Harrison County away to close out the regular season.

    10. Nicholas County (9-15, 5-9 region). Nicholas lost all four of their games last week, and try to reach double-digit wins this week hosting Model and St. Patrick.

    11. Robertson County (17-9, 11-2 region). Robertson outlasted St. Patrick on the road, then fell to Model at home; and look to reach the 20-win mark with games against Bracken County, Silver Grove and Dayton.

    12. Bourbon County (9-17, 5-8 region). The Colonels find themselves on the wrong end of a seven-game skid after falling to Frankfort and East Jessamine. Pendleton, Harrison and Woodford are up this week.

    13. St. Patrick (11-17, 3-8 region). Isaiah Garrison was nursing an injury as the Saints blew out Silver Grove in a game that saw the men in green hit a school-record 21 triples, Baylen Bauer connscting on a school-record 10 of them. The win was sandwiched by good showings (but losses) to Robertson County and Ryle. At Villa and Nicholas County this week.

    14. Augusta (11-13, 4-9 region). The Panthers fell hard at Bath County before eking out a 1-point win over Villa last week; and host Lewis County, Ludlow and Silver Grove this week.

    15. Calvary Christian (18-11, 4-9 region. This season has to be considered an unqualified success for coach Dale Brown. A blowout over Silver Grove and a squeaker over Villa Madonna preceded the loss to Brossart. The Cougars play in the Kentucky Christian Conference tourney this week.

    16. Bracken County (3-21, 0-14 region). The Polar Bears look to end an eight-game skid against Williamstown, Robertson County or West Carter this week.

    17. Silver Grove (2-20, 0-7 region). The Trains almost pulled one out against Latin last week, and were manhandled by St. Patrick and Calvary Christian. Four straight on the road this week.

Player of the Week: Broken record. Dontaie Allen.

    Games to watch this week:

    Scott @ Cooper, 2-16
    Pendleton County @ Paris, 2-15
Montgomery County @ Harrison County, 2-16
Mason County @ Bishop Brossart, 2-15
Bourbon County @ Harrison County, 2-14
St. Patrick @ Nicholas County, 2-15

GRC vs Henry Clay will be a big game this week. They upset #2 Madison Central. Just hope we can get the road win.

Fredrick Douglas and Henry Clay on the road this week is not easy games. Both will test the Cards and prepare them for post season.

Henry Clay is decent; their record is deceiving.
