Tilghman is definitely not a top 20 team. I know this is based off of results but Murray and Marshall County, both also from Region 1, are both quite a bit better than Tilghman.

Ballard is playing amazing right now, worthy of top spot especially if close off the KOB tonight. Can’t wait to watch tonight’s 3rd place game and championship game.

A team outside of top 20 who needs to get some serious consideration is Elizabethtown.

Pleased to see Ashland break the top 10. They’re a fun team to watch. Probably one of the best shooting teams in the state. They don’t have much size but make up for it in other ways, particularly good defense and hustle along with their great shooters and guard play.

Which results are you basing it off of?

Murray intrigues me. Marshall County has been disappointing and with their schedule being largely against out of state teams it is hard to get a good gauge of just how good they really are. Either way, good luck getting ranked in anyone’s rankings when you are 3-6 and for the most part fully healthy.

Looking at statewide results to date I’m not sure how anyone can feel confident about ranking 20 teams. After #10 it gets muddy as hell real quick.

Tilghman's schedule is way weaker than they other top teams in Region 1.

Don't get me wrong, I agree that Marshall County shouldn't be ranked. They have not lived up to expectations and with them having high expectations for this season they have been caught playing way out of their league on a couple occasions already this year, with several more severe beatdowns to come. With that being said, they are still the 2nd best team in Region 1. Murray is a very solid team and have been so without 2 starters that were both injured in football season. I have no idea on timetables for either to return or even if they will return at all. Nonetheless, what they have done without 2 starters from last years team that are down with injury is pretty awesome.

Paducah beat Graves by 1. Murray beat Graves by 20.
Paducah lost to Carlisle. Marshall beat Carlisle by 20.

I know the results from those 4 games can be taken with a grain of salt. I agree that ranking 20 teams this early in the year is just a crapshoot. But I was just stating that Tilghman is not a top 20 team. Only time will tell and we will continue to learn alot about all these teams as the season goes on.

I know for their first couple of games they were missing one of their best players and have been undefeated since he returned. We’ll see if they have staying power.

Murray is a team I have had my eye on. I’ll keep watching them for sure.

I like Zion Harmon a ton. I hope they can right the ship and live up to expectations.

I’m hearing good things about Webster County also.

Marshall County is 3-2 against KY teams losing to #6 and #8 in close games. Tough seeing them drop out after playing a national team schedule. That being said, I would not consider Tilghman a top 20 team, I don't even have them in the top 3 in region 1, and yes they have won 7 straight, but most of those team don't have a winning record and none of them would be considered even close to a top 20 team. I think Murray has played a tougher schedule and only lost to 1 KY team (Marshall Co).
Webster County is an interesting team, however like Paducah Tilghman, have played a very weak schedule, and they don't play anyone of significance the entire season, so we really will never know how good they are. They literally could go undefeated this season and it wouldn't tell us anything.
With that being said....Top 20 in KY is extremely difficult to do at this point of the year. I think BGP does a great job at getting as accurate a rating as they can.

Not a bad ranking for this time of year. Hard to weigh a lot of the variables.

I would probably have had Oldham County around 15th -16th.

I don't think Tilghman belongs in the poll right now. Maybe later....we'll all be watching their progress...but not right now.

Of the teams in the rankings, I'd probably have LexCath around 5th, and I'd lower Bourbon County to 18-19-20th. But I'm nitpicking....

Still no love for Frederick Douglass they did lose their first game where they were outpointed from the foul line by 11 FT's. Also they are ranked 2nd in the 11th region ahead of both Tates Creek and Henry Clay (who they have beat). They defeated Henry Clay by 6 but lead the entire game and by as many as 18. They also played Lexingtion Catholic in a preseason scrimmage where both teams played all varsity for the entire game by only 6 points. I am not sure that they are one of the top teams in the state but so far they have played well enough to crack the top 20.

I would agree. Frederick Douglass probably more worthy than either TC or HC.

Looking forward to seeing how Douglass measures up Friday against North Oldham. It will be a tall order but good to play games like that in December.
