Maybe Brossart is improving. Mike Code usually has a competitive team each year.

This is a nice win for the Mustangs. A little "mo" going into the All A.

The three by Ethan Eilerman was a great game winning shot. Prior to this shot there were many flat out hustle plays by other Mustangs that enabled Ethan to take and make the final shot.

It was an exciting night of basketball in Alexandria Thursday night, culminated by Ethan Eilerman's 3-point heroics for the Brossart win.

The Brossart Freshmen team pulled a rabbit out of their hat, down 2 with 10 seconds to play and Holmes in possession of the ball, when Mitchell Webster knocked the ball away from a Bulldog who was waiting to be fouled.

Webster scored, sending the game to OT, where the Mustangs went on to win 34-33 behind an 18 point performance from Jacob Leicht.

The JV game came down to the Dogs leading 47-45 with virually no time on the clock and a Mustang at the line shooting 3, none of which connected and the Bulldogs hung on. Brossart Freshman David Govan scored 19 points in that one.

In the varsity game, the Mustangs opened an early game 13-6 lead, only to see that leaad shrink to 13-12 at the quarter stop. We were tied at 26s at the half, and the Bulldogs led 42-38 after three quarters. They led by as many as seven at 52-45 with only two minutes to go in the game when the Mustangs went on an 8-1 run to get the game to OT.

In overtime, Allen Jump was a man possessed on defense, obtaining steals, forcing turnovers and keeping his team alive. Holmes hit what appeared to be the game-winner with just ticks remaining in the game, but Carson Schirmer raced down the floor, found Eilerman in the corner and the rest is history. Brossart and Brad Carr coached teams have a history of beating each other on last second shots.

On the night Brossart Junior Ethan Eilerman scored a career-high 29 points, eclipsing the 500 points mark, and J.D. Schumacher added 15. Mustang football quarterback Tyler MacDonald, no stranger to taking strong hits, stood in and took 3 charges on the night.

Demario Foster (15), Tico Pouncey (14), and Amari Mullins (13) all scored double-figures for the Bulldogs.

The Mustangs take on Campbell County in the Alexandria Crosstown Classic Saturday night at the Campbell County Middle School.

It was an exciting game for sure, I had a feeling Holmes might be in a little trouble with ball handeling when Tico Pouncy fouled out. Holmes is in an adjustment period and no varsity experience, they are playing hard, all you can ask of the young men.Eilerman is a very nice player and can shoot inside or out, impressive young man. Congrats to Brossart on the win.

I'd say by tournament time. Coach Carr real heroics will take a couple years as he changes the mindset and develops the middle school programs. Holmes team this year struggles in the outside shooting. The Bulldogs lack shooting and depth. I love what Brad Carr gets the maximum of what he is dealt. I would love to have my son play for him.

Dogs have been in a rut over the last few weeks with sickness and other variables not allowing Coach Carr to have a full squad.
The team lacks experience and has been missing one of their best players in Ryan Green.
Going to take time but Coach Carr will get them back on track.
