Wonder how the parents of the younger players in the system feel about that?

Why do you ask? What is the history in this situation?

I've never heard of the football coach being the basketball coach also. Does anyone know of any others and how successful they were?

Rex Cooksey did it at Fairview some years back. Fairly successful. Football team could never overcome Raceland, basketball team struggled to overcome Greenup and Ashland and Boyd back in the day.

It might be because they know it is a short term solution to the job.

Well, my "source" is a parent(s) from there. And the whole reason, according to them, that the former coach was dismissed was that the younger players' parents were disgruntled, yada, yada. I only know BMR from a distance, but he seems like a guy who doesn't play that game. I suppose that we shall see if they are happy in P'ville soon enough.

    (sigh)

I'm beginning to wonder if a program where everybody is happy even exists.

I don't think I'd heard of it in the last 20 years or so. Garnis Martin at Bardstown is a name that comes to mind that had great success at both, and that reached into the 70's.

Not in this state! Parents try to run everything and it usuaully just ends up running the coach out of town and the programs into the ground......

    Administrations fault.

All it takes is for the administration to say " I deal with academics and only deal with moral/illegal activity with coaches. They make all decisions on their programs."

Do that 2-3 times and 1-2 transfers later parents no longer run the show.

In my experience though, administrators have no "marbles"

Our principal will not talk to any parent about playing time. Will only discuss if someone has been mistreated somehow, which is few and far between. I am the same way when a parent comes and talks to me about a player or another coach.

That's all rumors. I've got family playing and coaching there. It had zero to do with the Administration. Outsiders started the conspiracy theory that they ran the coaches off for BM to get the job. The reality is it' was Keith Adkins job but he stayed at Cviile. BMR has been one of the best basketball coaches in the states history. I'm estatic that my nephew gets to play for him and he is too. He is a disciplinarian that knows the attitude it takes to win and accepts nothing less. He had planned on doing just football but things worked out and he's doing both this year. No talk has been made about the next year doing both. Paintsville has a great young group of talent. They started 3 8th graders last year that won even in the post season. That group of baseball + football both went to state. The future is bright at one of the best academic schools in the state. The team will be led by Sr Trevor Tiller who is one of the most athletic kids in the state and is an outstanding kid/leader too! He will play at the next level if he wants too.

I don't think for one second that it was a conspiracy to get BMR in there. I think it was parent driven to get the former coach out. I think it would be tough to dispute that. From what I was told (no different likely than you stick) that Adkins was everyone's choice.
