Is this due to all the unrest in Ft Thomas?

As I said in one of the other threads in response to someone who said Bellevue could not compete with Highlands........IF one of the 4 teams (Newport, Highlands, Bellevue and Dayton) has a bad shooting night they are not that much better than any of the other teams and any of these 4 can beat the other. Highlands still can get the 3 seed and set up the Newport rematch but the 4/5 game is going to be really good game regardless of which two teams end up in it. Unfortunately not drawing the 3 seed is a death sentence for the other two teams as far as the regional is concerned.

Tough year in Ft. Thomas as the girls team is struggling last couple weeks too. Good part is that outside of NCC it's wide open for the 2nd team to come out of that district. I still say Newport but who knows.

And how about some props for Coach Hicks for taking a team that was really struggling early and making them very competitive!!!!!! Great win for Coach Hicks and his troops tonight.

Boring. Highland is poor this year. Not beating around the bush... Sigh. 29 points won't win you very many games.

He has another former Bird on his staff as well in Gary Simon. They do a great job with the numbers they have down there.

Highlands has got to be a tough basketball job. I can't imagine summer ball exists because of the amazing football program. So really, how many kids are in the gym before thanksgiving?

You make valid points and this sums up very well the excuses their followers love to use for why their basketball team struggles so much.

Hasn't always been that way. Unfortunately those days are becoming ancient history

Highlands really needs to start running the ball more effectively - can't believe Bellevue shut down their spread offense...

Wait - this is BASKETBALL. Hard to believe a HS team can't put up 35-40 points a game on effort and FTs...if you can't make shots you have to get to the line. Saw Cooper hit 23 FTs against Ryle - those points count, too.
