No surprise here. I said I'd be very surprised if Dayton kept it within 20 and looks like they didn't disappoint.
Beechwood will dominate class A schools this year.

Yes Smith Played, He did not score, had rough night from the field, but he is a monster in the paint defensively for Beechwood. Dayton style of play was completely taken away. They like to penetrate and kick it out for threes. They did not get hardly anything inside and had to rely completely on outside shots. He had several blocks also.
From what I have been told, he is working hard in practice to improve his offensive skills and he will be ready to be a force by the Ashland and ALL A tournaments!
You put him and Snyder inside and that is a tough combo!!:flame:

Dayton didn't play well enough to win, but it wasn't as bad as this score indicates. With about 2 minutes left in the third they cut it to 4, and had a chance to cut it to 2 but missed a layup. Beechwood called a Time Out, came back with a big run, and from then on Dayton went quietly.
Massey played decent offensively and showed some inside outside versatility.
Romes is one of the top defenders in the region. Frustrated Eastin pretty much all night except for a few times in the third quarter when I think he scored 8 of his ten. And a lot of those were off sloppy Beechwood turnovers.
Beuttel is their best scorer. High basketball IQ...
The best thing the big kid does is alter shots. I thought he may have been more suceptable to fouls if they would have went at him instead of avoiding the contact. Didn't shoot from anywhere outside 5 feet. Personally was more impressed with the Snyder kid as an inside player.
Beechwood uses their length well on defense. It was what disrupted Dayton's offense.
Seemingly everyone for the Tigers shoot well from 3.
It didn't cause them to lose, but the FT count didn't help Dayton either...
Both these teams have potential to win a lot of games in DIII...

Beechwood seems to be class of DIII again this year and could make some noice in the All A.

Ever wonder if Beechwood should try to move out of DIII....They win 95% of the games and rightfully so. They just always have more talent than every other school in that division. It is always fun to win, but do you think they get bored with some of the competition. I can understand it if it was a one time through type of deal, but in DIII, you have to play everyone home and away. That is 14 games a year. It is great for all the other small schools who really don't have anyone else around here to play competitively, but Beechwood is mostly heads and shoulders above these teams. Yea, I know some of them are close games, but you have to consider that these other schools really get up for the "Beechwood Game" cause they know that they are always the favorite. I know that some years other schools compete for the DIII title (don't rip me for that), but traditionally Beechwood is just a better program with more athletes to choose from. I'm just saying that I bet their coach feels like playing DIII schools twice a year is a bit of a waste.
Who determines that they play twice a year? Do coaches get to vote on that? Is there a DIII committee? DI and DII only play once...correct?
Not sure... just a thought. Opinions???

It hurts all DIII teams to play each other twice, not just Beechwood.
Some coaches are just satisfied with being competitive within their own schedules and it does make scheduling easier.
Better question is... why does Beechwood drive past Ludlow[geographically) and Ludlow drive past Beechwood to play their District games?

Who do you think Beechwood could consistently beat outside of DIII? Boone Co? No, Ryle? No, Highlands? No. I think they are going through a nice cycle of talent that is all.

As long as they are in DIII they are not going to beat these teams. That is why they need to move out of it or the scheduling rules need to change to help all DIII schools be competitive.

How does scheduling make DIV 3 schools competitive. I thought talent made you competitive. The football certainly doesn't have a problem being dominate even though they play the A district schedule. This is Beechwood arrogance at its finest. Why they have this in basketball is beyond me. If anything they should be talking about the football team.
