Whoever Beechwood gets in the districts better know to bring their 'A' game. If either CovCath or Holmes think they can sleep walk their way into the Regional they need to wake up. Beechwood has a nice team that just keeps getter better.
Aside from playing good smart ball (most of the time) they play with a lot of heart. That combination can take you places. They're no pushover. The 35th district tourney could get very interesting. This year, it looks like all 4 teams have something to say.

To be fair to the staff, they weren't the ones NOT setting the picks. The plays were designed to run Cory off the picks but they simply were not there.

True, the staff weren't the ones not setting the picks, but they're the ones responsible for seeing that the picks get set and the plays are run the way they want them run. If the players on the floor aren't setting the picks, they need to adjust by sitting them down and putting someone on the floor who can and will set the picks. There's nothing like taking a seat for a while to inspire you to do exactly what the coach wants!

Nice win for Beechwood, HC is really not playing well.

No, there is just two teams and those two as always are Holmes & CovCath. I hope you don't think for one second that Beechwood is going to beat Holmes or CovCath in the districts because that is not going to happen.

This is a huge win for Beechwood and coach Shumate. Looking at their roster, Brian Romes, Trey Beuttel, and Nate Snyder, another key player to the Tiger's success, are all juniors. This tells me that next year Beechwood will be a team that will be one of the best NKY teams.

I agree! I was going to ask in the prediction thread if Romes was back yet, as I would see Beechwood having a much better game with him in there.

Yeah i know this is so true. What was the score when BW played Holmes?

Ludlow succeeded earlier this year against Conner, which was also a nice win for the Panthers.
Even the nice Beechwood team that Mike Herald coached with the other Romes boy a couple of years back, they rarely succeeded outside of Division III competition.
One big step for Division III basketball and for the Red and White Tigers tonight!!! That one will earn you some respect at Dickmann's.
Please name the division 3 schools in NKY.

We will see... you may be sadly mistakened because BW is primed for another upset.

Beechwood has had some quality wins this year, Conner, South Oldham, Raceland, Holy Cross. They also played Boone Co., Holmes, Cov Cath., Highlands, Newport(OT loss) Ryle yet to play, that is as tough of schedule I have seen for a D III.

What determines the divisions? Weren't St. Henry and Holy Cross single A schools as well?

St. Henry and Holy Cross are D II schools in the NKAC.

You are absolutely right. It was Beechwood that beat Conner earlier this season. I miscredited that win to Ludlow in an earlier post on this thread.
Beechwood is 8-0 vs Division III competition, but as you say, the wins over Conner, Raceland, South Oldham, and now Holy Cross certainly legitimizes them as a contender outside of the normal relm of DIII competition, especially when they are healthy and at full strength.
Side note: St. Henry, Holy Cross, NCC, and Brossart are all Class A teams who elect to play up in the NKAC Division II with Highlands, Lloyd, and Newport.
Continued success to the Beechies. They are exactly the type of team that the All "A" Classic tournament was set up to showcase!

Newport is also a Class A team that plays in NKAC Division II

Lets be fair to the staff here......coaches coach and players play, and I believe that the overwhelming majority of coaches experience games whereby no matter what is said or taught, it simply doesn't get accomplished. All kinds of reasons for that, including, but not limited to the defense they are playing against, who's "on" that night and whos not, who's more/less experienced and on and on and on. And by the way, it's easy to say sit them down and get someone else out there, but that may not be that coaches best option either. No one knows the team any better than their staff....not even the spectators, moms/dads, and critics in the stands that see them play a couple times a week

What criteria are used to form the divisions? Enrollment? Who determines them, KHSAA?

Holmes and CovCath have pretty much owned this district and I don't see it changing for at least this year. Sounds like Beechwood has a nice team, but they just don't have the fire power to go against Holmes & CovCath.
