Ashland 53 Morgan County 51 (16th Region Quarterfinals)

    Final, from Morehead.

After a couple of clutch Morgan County free throws ties the game at 51, Devaunte Robinson collects a missed shot attempt by Chase Villers and drills a short baseline jumper at the buzzer to give Ashland the W.

Well.. That was certainly an entertaining game. Robinson was clutch in the 4th. As a Tomcat fan I'm glad this one didn't go to overtime. Morgan county has a great team even though I had my doubts earlier in the season.

Effort was there for Morgan but they came up a little short against a very good Ashland team. Ashland has enough size to cause a lot of problems for teams to score such as Villers taking Morgan's leading scorer completing out of the scoring column. Good luck to the Tomcats the rest of the season.

As you know I am a big Morgan Co fan. Hate to see them loose a heart breaker of a game. Now they are out I am on the Ashland bandwagon again...

Hard to believe that Evans didn't score at all. Wow.

Villers is known more for his prowess on the offensive end, but he brought his A game on the defensive end tonight. On a night when maybe he wasn't at his best offensively, he did what great players do - he found another way to impact the game in a positive way for his team.

I don't know if it's possible to "quietly" win 25 games, but that's what it feels like Morgan County did this season. So much attention was paid to Ashland and Boyd County, Morgan County's great season was kind of put on the back burner. Tonight, they showed that they belonged on that top line with the Tomcats and Lions. The Cougars just got a lousy draw this year.

Agree. They win their district only to draw Ashland.......

    Tough loss for the Cougars.
They definitely brought a great crowd.
