Looking forward to this, as I do every year. My winter high school basketball fix used to be the Saturday morning LIT semi-finals downtown at the Louisville Armory/Convention Center/Gardens but this tournament is certainly a worthy successor.

Looking forward to the Cozart/Miles match up on the first day. Male/Collins is also an intriguing matchup. Trinity and Ballard should win both of their games pretty easily. Then I’ll be back for day 3 when it really gets good.

Fairdale going to be seriously outmatched in this tourney. I’m surprised how much they have dropped. I remember when they were a power most years.

Thanks to everyone in Fairdale for putting on this outstanding event for so many years. I've been going since the early days, and it continues to be an outstanding event. Always a highlight of the high school basketball season in Louisville.

Male/Collins and WV/MC could be interesting. But I don’t think Trinity or Ballard will play close games.

Yeah, the MC/WV game could be nice if Cozart doesn't get in foul trouble. I don't believe Collins can play with Male.

I think that Ballard vs Spencer County game could be a little closer than people might think. They have played one common opponent in the past two weeks. Ballard beat North Oldham by two and Spencer County beat North Oldham by three. It's all about matchups. You never know how a young team will handle that kind of stage. Spencer County starts three sophomores. Could be a blowout but if Spencer doesn't play scared I think it could be a very close game.

Collins/Male is interesting to me because Collins has great guard play, and Gaithersburg does a good job of getting his teams prepared to play. They haven’t been on this stage before, so we’ll see. There are also rumors that Male has a little inner turmoil going on. Those things tend to rear themselves when the pressure is on.

Ballard is playing young guys too. Including starting an 8th grader. That doesn’t usually happen in the 7th region. The youth excuse goes out the window for this one. The teams are definitely a contrast though. Will Spencer’s offense be able to dictate the game? Or will Renner have his defense clicking? It takes time to learn his defense. But once they have it, the chaos they create is fun to watch. Look forward to reading the updates.

Have you guys seen Collins and Male play, I'm not saying Male is great, but I believe they can handle Collins. We'll see Wednesday.
