Each made their team better, is that to say Fitzgerald and Harmon didn’t. I watched both play multiple times this season, Adair County wouldn’t have won 8-9 games without Harmon and Pulaski Co would have been about .500 without Fitzgerald.

Take Scrubb off Trinity they might drop a game or two more, Moreno off Scott county about the same. Cov Cath don’t win state without Fredrick but still has good shot at region.

By that philosophy Trevon Faulkner, KyKy Tandy & Dontaie Allen were the most valuable and I would say Skyelar Potter and Mickey Pearson next, based on their state performances. Warren Central couldn’t score outside of Potter against Scott County and when Pearson fouled out for John Hardin, the game was over vs Pikeville.

I would love to know how you think Kunkel doesnít make his team better? Thatís hilarious. Look at the games that Cooper played when Adam got injured. Big difference.

I'm reading this as a question, not a statement. I think CP is asking PP92 for clarification from a previous post.

I believe PP92 is as savvy an observer of the HS game as any member on this board. I'm curious to see how he responds to this question as well.

It's would have taken a lot to make Cooper better than last season, and "NO'' single player could do that.

I know. That doesn’t change my observation or analysis as to why these 10 people made the list over Steven Fitzgerald and Zion Harmon.

EXACTLY! Taking McNeil and Hendrix off Cooper's team from last season Kunkle had no choice but to make his team better this year. Different set of circumstances obviously but to state he didn't make this years team better is laughable. Cooper doesn't have half the season it does nor beat CovCath at KOB or hang with them in the regional semi's without making his team better. The player only lead his team in scoring, assists and second in rebounding. Not sure what else he could have done to make his team better or give them a fighters chance to get back to the Sweet 16. He belongs on the list without any question, not even close.

Team was 22-10 and lost to Southwestern in regional semifinals, a slight disappointment in the eyes of most around the 12th Region.

Pulaski played four of the teams that had all-state players - Trinity, Cooper, Mercer, and John Hardin. Numbers in those games:

    vs. Trinity (LOST 86-76); 41 points on 14-35 shooting, 4-10 from three, 4 rebounds (Scrubb had 18 & 7)

    vs. Cooper (LOST 74-52); 33 points on 9-21 shooting, 2-8 from three, 4 rebounds (Kunkel had 22 & 10)

vs. Mercer County (LOST 80-70); 35 points on 15-29 shooting, 4-14 from three, 11 rebounds (Faulkner had 24 & 5)

vs. John Hardin (WON 82-76); 33 points on 8-19 shooting, 1-4 from three, 13 rebounds (Pearson had 25 & 12)

vs. Mercer County (LOST 86-84); didn't play due to suspension (Faulkner 32 & 11)

Clearly he is a great player. I don't think anyone is at fault for thinking Fitzgerald is an all-state player. However, leaving him off the list is hardly a crime since the ten listed are also terrific players. The numbers, at least to me, show him right on the edge of the list.
He also lost 3 of the 4 games you posted about above. Sometimes one guy taking the majority of the shots doesn't help their team win. The best players get their points, get the rest of the team involved and get the win. The game he took the least amount of shots in is the only game they won. They played Mercer closer without him. Shooting 35 times and onlys scoring 41 points is a negative not a positive.

Man, y’all sure are taking an observation about team records from the previous season to the extreme. Especially when not one person has said that Adam didn’t make this year’s team better or that Adam doesn’t belong on the list.

You take Moreno off of Scott County and they are no longer a contender. For High School Moreno changes the game and is nearly unstoppable. I understand your point but to me Pulaski underachieved this year so that doesn't help his cause.

I don't understand how David Johnson isn't making first team all-state teams.

Hard for me to understand how Andrew Taylor from Corbin didn't make the list. He averaged 28 points, 10.5 rebounds and 6 assists a game despite being double teamed every game. He was the primary ball handler and had to create 98% of his own shot opportunities, so despite rarely getting open looks, was able to shoot 52.5% from the field.

I don't think anyone is taking anything to an extreme. Your 1st post stated Adam didn't make his team better then you tried to clarify it by stating he (along with DA) didn't make their team better than "last year" which is your reference not mine. Frankly just trying to understand what you were trying to illustrate about these players not making their teams better. Harmon is a special talent and I'm not familiar with Fitzgerald other than when they played Cooper but I am sure both are worthy of being on the list as well but not really sure who should be removed if the list isn't expanded.

Yeah, I was drinking when I made that post Friday evening so my thoughts didn’t translate properly in the written form. I clarified it when I woke up the next morning. If you read that whole post minus the one sentence I messed up I think you can clearly see me advocating for Adam to be on the team. I’m not an idiot. I know Adam made Cooper exponentially better when he was on the court. That’s blatantly obvious. The only point that I obviously failed to make is that looking at team records from last season to this season for the 10 kids that made the team they each played a large part in their team improving from last season. In fact, the only thing I said about DA is that his team didn’t make the region finals(Pendleton County had a better record this season than last season) along with Adam’s but then I finished that statement by reminding everyone that when Cooper lost to eventual state champ, CovCath, no one has played them better than Cooper did in that region semifinal game. Closest game for CovCath since January 23. My bad for not being more clear on my original observation about team records from this season to last. I guess I assumed than when I put “at worst he was a top 5 candidate for Mr. Basketball all season” that it was a good enough qualifier for how good Adam is. I’m not sure why I left out the team records from last season part of my observation. I wasn’t trying to discredit him, his talents, his season and his worth to the Cooper basketball team by any means. My bad.

And no, I wouldn’t take anyone off of this team for Harmon or Fitzgerald. As I said earlier this list is as close to perfect as you can get and I stand by that statement. And no, I didn’t have any votes or anything to do with this team being put together. The BGP basketball staff members did an outstanding job.

Seen all these players other than Allen and Ware play. Very good group of players but Zion Harmon and David Johnson should be on the list IMO.
