It is for everyone except Cooper. The thing about sports is that when the season ends, you can always look forward to next year. Adam Kunkel will be back next year and of course CJ & Jake will be returning for CCH. Those 3 seem to be the top of the pack returning.

Aiden and AJ for CCH are ahead of Jake at this point. Jake is the huge x-factor as to see if he improves as much as he did from last year, and take it to the next level next year. CCH will have so much depth next year. People forget about Davin who didn't suit up this year as a sophomore, and was projected as the 6th man.

Nowak who didn't play in the Regional will be back along with 4 starters, and a undefeated JV team. The beat just goes on.

You know the team much better than I, but Aiden and AJ are not 7 footers. There should be nobody who impacts the game like a 7 footer, especially in KY where that kind of size is rare.

Agreed. I am strictly speaking on the now, and AJ and Aiden were more valuable to the team this year. I think Jake has a great summer, and will be pretty tough to handle come November.

    Top 10 players
    1. C.J. Fredrick/CovCath
    2. Adam Kunkel/Cooper
    3. MeKell Burries/Newport
    4. Brennan Hall/NCC
    5. Ben Toebbe/Beechwood
    6. Aiden Ruthsatz/CovCath
    7. A.J. Mayer/CovCath
    8. Tyler Schreck/Dixie
    9. Jake Walter/CovCath
    10. Rico Hollis/Holmes

I may have missed some guys who could/should be Top 10. This is off the top of my head. I'm solid on My top 2, Burries & Hall could be flipped, but after that my 5-10 are pretty open on where guys could be.

I think that next year Braydon Runion from Cooper will be one of the top players in this region. People don't realize how good this kid is because he is playing with McNeil and Kunkel. He will be one of the top defenders in the region next year and will be one of the better all around players.

Interesting because I have heard otherwise from people in the know as well.

He's definitely a guy who could/should be Top 10, where do you think he would land on the list?

Braydon Runion is flying under the radar and I think will open some eyes next year. He's had a big impact this year already with Cooper but is overshadowed by 2o of Coopers all time best players ever in Kunkel and S McNeil.
I don't know where he would fall in the top 10 right now but by the end of the season barring injury I think he will be on a lot of peoples top 10 list.

Really like this list. Not sure about Toebbe as high as 5, but i like his upside. I agree on Runion... that young man hit some BIG shots in the regional this year. He's strong, smart, plays hard, and can shoot a little.

He should be on that list, but where????

I agree on Burries and Hall. I like Burries ability to score better than Hall, but Hall is such an all-around player and VERY smart. So strong and skilled attacking the rim, and excellent use of his body.

Speaking of Burries, what about his running mate, junior-to-be, Donnie Miller. He was a leading sophomore PG in the 9th region, which isn't easy to do.

Tough to pick a top 10. One thing is for sure, while this year isn't over, next year in the 9th should be very interesting as Cooper may come back to the pack (just a teeny-tiny bit), and Newport (if Burries returns), NewCath, and Holmes could all be right there.

    Exciting.

The 9th is going to be exciting next season, There's a few guys who I didn't put on the list, who should be on the list, like Runion, or could fit in somewhere on the list like Donnie Miller, it's going to be fun to see how it all plays out next season in the 9th, there's a lot of guys who you probably couldn't mention on a Top 10 list yet but next season will make some noise, it's exciting for sure.

Kunkel will be the best player in the region next year and by summer's end will have a handful of high D-I offers. Kid is a dynamic scorer from all distances and a tremendous competitor - another summer of travel ball/working out and he is that much better. I also think Runion takes a giant step forward next year - great athlete, competitor - and fast-developing basketball skills.

CovCath will go as far as their guards take them next year. I understand their freshman and JV teams were very good, but it will be Ruthsatz, Frederick, and Lenihan (underutilized IMO) who take them to Lexington next year. They certainly are capable of taking the team very far. Ruthsatz has played in CVH and Frederick's shadow to some degree - but he is a dynamic player and I believe will step up with AJ Mayer as the leader of next year's team.

Even if Walter has a terrific summer I don't see him as the leader of that team next year. There are stronger players and personalities ahead of him.

What's most important - these kids stay healthy and have great summers playing and developing. It would be terrific if the 9th region saw great competition and kids were rewarded for their hard work with college offers (regardless of division).
