12th Region Rankings for the week of 12/21/15

1) Mercer County (8-0) – The Titans continue to roll through their competition with no one coming within 27 point against them this week. Dylan James had 21 points and Will Hager had 9 assists in Mercer’s 81-38 victory over East Jessamine. The Titan’s also dismantled district rival West Jessamine 88-44. Trevon Faulkner led the way with 21 points while Malik Dowe pulled down 12 rebounds. The Titan’s finished the week with an 87-60 win over Pike County Central. Faulkner once again led in scoring with 26 points while James scored 21 and Hager dished out 10 assists. This week Mercer County will begin playing in the Farmers National Bank Clash of the Titans tournament facing Dixie Heights on Monday.

2) Southwestern (3-1) – The Warriors only played one game this week and lost to a good Cordia team on the road 55-60. This week the Warriors Travel to Louisville to play in the Panther Classic at Pleasure Ridge Park. Their first game is Monday versus St. Xavier.

3) Wayne County (3-2) – The Cardinals also only played one game last week and beat Pulaski County on the road 67-50. The Cardinals continue to be without senior star Corey Stearns who was injured over a week ago. But, Nick Gillespie stepped up his game and had 24 points and 15 rebounds versus Pulaski. This week Wayne travels to Gatlinburg to play in the Smokey Mountain Classic.

4) Pulaski County (4-2) – The Maroons have been busy this week. They lost to Wayne County 50-67 but turn around and beat Garrard County on the road the next night 50-48. They are currently playing in the Arby’s/KFC Holiday Classic in McCreary where they lost to Doss 43-62 and beat Barbourville 73-60. They have been without an inside presents with star Treyvon Sylvester and Mason Helton currently out with injury. They continue play tonight versus Middlesboro and finish versus Muhlenberg County tomorrow.

5) West Jessamine (5-3) – West Jessamine split a pair of games this week beating Lincoln County 64-55 but losing to Mercer County 44-88. Siah Holifield scored 32 points to lead the way for the colts in their win over Lincoln. This week the Colts open against Scott County in the Woodford County Invitational Tournament.

6) Boyle County (5-1) – The Rebels split a pair of games this past week losing to a good North Hardin team 42-50 and beating Johnson Central 69-59. Colton Elkins finished with a double-double versus North Hardin scoring 17 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. Sophomore Jason Alexander led the way for the Rebels in their win over Johnson central. He had 18 points. Boyle County will face Glasgow at home Monday before taking a break for Christmas.

7) Danville (4-1) – The Admirals have won four straight now with two victories this week over Anderson County 64-56 and Lexington Christian 69-60. In the win over LCA, Spencer McKinney led the Admirals with 23 points and Jakobi Turner added 14. This week Danville will travel to Mercer County to take on Collins in the opening game of the Farmers National Bank Clash of the Titans tournament.

8) Garrard County (6-4) – The Golden Lions have been busy playing ball this week. They beat Powell County 53-48 and lost to Pulaski County 48-50 earlier last week. They are currently in the championship game of the Elleman Contracting Garrard Holiday Classic with wins over Washington County 76-62 and Union County 64-42. The face Somerset tonight in the championship game. Nick McCullum has had a big week scoring 33 points versus Powell County, 18 against Pulaski, and 32 versus Washington County.

9) Lincoln County (3-4) – The Patriots lost a pair of games this week losing 55-64 against West Jessamine and 69-84 versus Corbin. Noah Young led the way for the Patriots in both games scoring 20 and 23 points respectively. Lincoln County will face Boyd County this week in the opening game of the Farmers National Bank Clash of the Titans tournament in Mercer County.

10) Rockcastle County (5-4) – The Rockets beat Estill County 80-56, lost to Adair County 74-87, and beat Hart County 70-40 this past week. They are off for Christmas this week but return after the break to play in the Gateway Holiday Classic in Montgomery County.

11) Somerset (6-2) – The Briar Jumpers are on a four game winning streak and find themselves in the championship game of the Elleman Contracting Garrard Holiday Classic facing Garrard County tonight. They beat district rival Casey County 83-69 and McCreary Central 68-62 earlier last week. In the tournament they beat Model 84-67 and handed South Oldham their first loss of the season 77-64 to make it to the championship game to face Garrard County. Jake Cothron and Kross Grundy have led the Jumpers in scoring averaging 20 and 19 points respectively.

12) Casey County (2-5) – The Rebels have struggled early in the season and are on a five game losing streak. They lost at home to district rival Somerset 69-89 in the only game they played this past week. They travel to Gatlinburg this week to play in the Smokey Mountain Christmas Classic.

13) East Jessamine (3-7) – The Jaguars lost to Mercer County 38-81 earlier last week. They lost to Belfry 57-63 but beat Powell County 48-33 in the Kentucky Bank Challenge in Morehead. They start play this week in the Berea Invitational Tournament versus Eminence.

14) McCreary Central (3-6) – The Raiders beat Burgin 77-67 but lost to Somerset 62-68 earlier last week. They are currently playing in the Arby’s/KFC Holiday Classic where they lost to Muhlenberg County 55-96 but beat Middlesboro 73-38. They are scheduled to play Doss tonight and Barbourville tomorrow to finish the classic.

15) Burgin (4-4) – The Bulldogs lost to McCreary Central 67-77 and Sayre 51-60 before beating Heritage Academy 70-22. They play Riverside Christian Monday night before taking a break for the holidays.

16) Kentucky School f/t Deaf (3-6) – The Colonels lost to Walden 36-54 but beat St. Rita School f/t Deaf 52-28 this past week. They are finished playing for the holiday break and return in January to face St. Francis.
