With that said, both sides fought their tails off.

On the CCH side, knowing Rom was likely coming in the game at some point, it was critical to score as much as they could early. I wish Maile would have been given the chance to swing the bat in the 2nd, with 1 out and runners on 2nd/3rd. Instead, he lays down a great squeeze bunt, but you give up an out. Who knows? Maybe he would not have driven either runner in, or, perhaps he doubles two runs in and there’s still just one out. The small ball philosophy leaves no margin for error. Especially with a shut down Clydesdale in Baioni’s back pocket.

Live by the sword, die by the sword.

Good luck to Highlands in Lexington.
Not that it matters much, but Krumps put on the walk off - steal of home play there that did not work out for them.

Good game all around though and good luck to Highlands at state.

Cramer did a fine job halting the momentum of CCH.

This cannot be a theme. Make no mistake about it.... If HHS throws anyone not named Rom in that game, CC is down state right now.

What??? You do realize that Rom only pitched the last 3.67 innings correct? Cramer was effective in the time that he pitched in the game.

lol.... 3.67 innings? You realize that is half the game? I'm a fan of both teams. If Dreves pitches or Cramer pitches 3.67 innnings of that game then Cov Cath is in Lex. You know what Highlands has been for the last 4 years... Doty, Doty, Doty Rom.

In 2015, the first of 4 straight 9th Region Titles for Coach Baioni and the Birds, the pitching staff was likely deeper than any of the other 3 years. SR Mitchell Jones, pitching at D-2 KWC, SR Joseph Martin, pitching at D-1 NKU, JR Ricky Raisor, SO Ethan Doty, pitching at D-3 Otterbein, and SRs Jacob Noe, Lou Bunning and Kenny Ball.

So to say it was just Raisor or Doty in 2015 is just ill-informed. Yes, none of those pitchers got drafted like Drew Rom, but it was so much more than one pitcher in 2015.

That squad could also mash it with the best teams in the state, averaging 8.8 runs per game.
