    Dixie Heights 10 Newport 0 (5 Innings)

Smallwood started and went 4 for Dixie with Leon throwing the 5th. Very good pitching performances by both.

I don't have any hitting stats but I do want to say "great job" to Ronnie Winters. Ronnie is filling in nicely for the injured Cory Abeling and I believe had atleast two hits today with a great glove in the field.

Dixie will play the winner of the Holy Cross-Conner game Friday at 4pm I believe at Champion Window Field.

Is the Smallwood kid one of the better pitchers in the 9th region? Why doesn't he bat?, would think he would be a good stick at his height.

Yes Brice is one of the better pitchers in the ninth. While he can hit, Dixie has better options.

Does that mean he is out for the next game?

So for the Conner game, Dixie will be missing their starting SS plus their starting 2B who broke his leg. I heard an OF also had his nose broken. Is he able to play?

Runner was on third base and came home on a WP (if I remember correctly). The catcher had his face mask on home plate/near home plate and the young man kicked it (so far no problem) but then he turned toward the catcher and said a few choice words that the man in blue heard him say, and he threw him out.

I mean I can understand him being upset but gee you got to be smarter than sounding off to another player, with the umpire standing right next to that player, when you are mouthing off to him!

Jeez, seems like this whole situation could have been avoided... Just not a smart play, especially since your about to run rule your opponent!

Dixie's player should have kept his mouth shut. Poor sportsmanship by the Newport catcher as he did the same routine every time he made a horrible throw that ended up in the outfield. He would toss his mask on the plate almost like he was hoping someone would trip and injure themselves crossing the plate. Really uncalled for and should have been dealt with prior to the ejection IMO.

And I totally agree with your statement about the Newport catcher, however we both can agree that you keep your mouth shut or complain to your coach and let him deal with the man in blue telling the Newport catcher to throw his mask to the side. Now it isn't against the rules to do what he was doing (the Catcher) but indeed it was poor sportsmanship in doing so time after time!

Isn't he gone for two games like coaches when they're ejected?
