    Default Best Hitters In NKY

I have not seen this one yet. There are 3 ways to go, power, average, or both. For power, I would have to say Luke Maile from CCH, average would be Mark Reed from Boone, and both would probably be Cory Farris from Boone. Another very good hitter you don't hear alot about is Scott Brown from Gallatin Co.

I will agree with the players you have listed above, but would put Maile in the both category as well. I would add Josh Brown of Simon Kenton for average, he was probably one of the better hitters I saw all last summer. One that I think will surprise is Leatherbee from Ryle in the batting average category, he has had to wait his turn over at Ryle, as many do, playing behing Humphrey at SS. I know this is not a fielding thread but if you get a chance to watch him field the baseball he can really pick it.

That has nothing to do with the thread, it was about NKY and Simon Kenton is in NKY.

Conner is going to have a very strong offense. Osuna, Vargo, Pugh,Brake, Gill and some strong bats off the bench.

Brake might have the sweetest swing in NKY. Maile and Faris can both mash but Brake has a nice stroke. As for the others they've got to prove themselves yet don't they?

Three players not mentioned are Cody Elliott (Beechwood), who can turn any single into a double, or any double into a triple. Zac Adams (Scott) who I watched hit all summer, this young man can handle a bat very, very well, and add Ryan Darner (CovCath) to this mix and you have three young men who get on base a lot......

Guess I missed it. I know Elliott went 1 for 8 against us last year. Darner and Adams I don't recall any big hits against us, but I only saw them when they played us.

DD, do you really expect these guys to get hits off of Ryle pitchers? Please.

That's why they had to schlep their way through summer league hitting off future D1 pitchers - just to get back on the good side of the ledger.

Fortunately, the Ball State coach didn't see Cody go against the Raiders or the kid may just be paying for all of his education in the future.

Adams was still hurt when Scott played Ryle last year and came into pitch hit once during the game. When healthy he is very dangerous with the bat. If I am correct, I believe he led the Kentucky Colonels in batting average over the summer and drove in quite a few runners batting clean-up.

I followed the Ky Colonels the whole season last summer and Adams and Darner rarely were in the lineup or at bat. The cleanup hitter for them changed but for the most part was either Blesser, Isler, or Krohman.

Cody had a solid summer. Ball State needs a CF and he fits the bill. He can hit for power and has the speed to run out almost anything.

Well Adams was hitting a lot as a DH and AH when they used him and he was doing very well. He appeared alot during the 3/4 of the season and the last was when alot of scouts were watching and they didn't want to use the DH or AH as they were showcasing the other players.

I know B Wood doesn't publish stats, that's why I watch Elliot when we play him and as I said, he went 1 for 8. Adams and Darner, didn't see them in the hitting leaders last year. But don't let the facts confuse you.

So 8 ABs and you've got him figured out? You should be a scout.

Do you place more in credence in those 8 ABs or how he did over an entire summer against top competition?

Darn DD a kid signs with a D1 school as a junior and you are only concerned with what he did against Ryle?

BTW, other that when the Ky Colonels played the Kings, how many times did you see Adams, Darner or even Elliott play this summer? Trust me, the Kings were no where near as good as some of the teams that the Colonels played this summer in Nashville, Memphis, Louisville, or even Cincinnati and all three young men did themselves proud all summer long.

DD, so how many current seniors from Ryle, have already signed with a D1 school like Elliott has?
