Beechwood 6 Covington Catholic 4 (Frosh)

Baby Tigers remain undefeated by handing the blue Colonels only their 2nd loss of the season. The Tigers move to 14-0.

Nick Jackman, a freshman, pitched this game for Beechwood. The Tigers were up 6-1 going to into the last inning and CCH fought back to get within 2.

Nice win for the Tigers. I wasn't at the game, but I've seen Nick pitch before - quality pitcher. Colonels fall to 13-2, with next scheduled game Thursday @ home vs Boone Co. The game today vs Dixie has been cancelled.

Great season thus far for the young Beechies. What is the reason for the success in the program? A change in incoming talent that might've gone to other schools? Coaching? etc

Beechwood baseball has been excellent for the past 15 years. It is probably between Beechwood and CCH for the winningest program in N. Ky. over the past 10-15 years. Great coaching plays a big part with Bob Meyerhoff for quite a few years followed by Bob Mullins over the past 3 years. This isn't something new. I believe somewhere in the early 2000's Beechwood had an undefeated season until losing to Boone County in the regional. The Tigers have been state runner-up. This is just a continuance of excellence in baseball for Beechwood, kind of like Highlands football.
