I have said since 2004 that we squandered the unity from 9/11 with our rush to expanding the war to Iraq.

Six pages on the 'Bowling Green Massacre'? It was corrected in an hour and is still all over social media a day later.
Bowling Green never bothered me as much as "alternative facts."

This is post 18 so the choices have narrowed greatly on the poll.

I think it would help if we could all start with one assumption. The other side wants what is best for the country just as much as we do. The other side loves the country just as much as we do. The other side is as well intentioned as we are. Even if you have trouble believing it, act and talk as if you believe it anyway. You will be surprised how much better you get along with people.

Absolutely agree. I've never thought it was very bad on here. On some other forms of social media, however, it is rare to find even a modicum of civility.

We have been told by Obama, media, Dems that there is no divide. Well there apparently is now since they lost. It's the other side peoples fault.

Question ... is a post like this one divisive?

It's not meant to be a divisive statement. Only what I have witnessed and read about.

I was around in 1968. I don't think the gap is any wider now than it was then.

    Social media simply exposes it.

The "Divide" is caused by political disenfranchised segments of society who have been hurt by the decisions of the political system to the benefit of few. It has been aggravated by political elitist who believe our obligation is to the world community before our own citizens. Those who advocate immigration, regardless of legality, only see people with needed skills in our society, and do not see the citizen being pushed out of the workforce by such actions.

It also boils down to what your view is on the role of Government. Many view Federal Government as having a large social role in the lives of citizens. Others, view this role as belonging to a deity.

As one who is being pushed out of the job market because of competition from an endless stream of young unencumbered guest workers, I am in the boat with those who are angry.

Speaking personally, until the "scoreboard" group that has emerged on here since November grows up, the divide will remain and I have no intentions of trying to make it better.
