Default One More Reason Gov Romney Should Not Run From His Bain Years

IMO the Gov has made a huge mistake in distancing himself from Bain by saying he didn't participate actively after 1999. Yes, Bain cut jobs. Yes, they book big management fees. However, as is often the case with an investment firm buying a business many, many jobs were also probably saved. THAT is what the Gov should be saying.

Why is this important? He released his 2010 tax return . We have a lot of smart people in this country who can look at tax returns and come up with theories. That's what is going on now.

His 2010 return reportedly shows deductions that are only allowed if the Gov was "active" in the business. Those deductions saved him a lot in taxes.

So he was either active in 2010 or he stopped being active in 1999.

Now he's going to have to spend time talking about this when he doesn't want to.

It could have been avoided just by standing up and saying "here's what we did at Bain."
