Something often overlooked about Rubio's perceived electability is that his positions are quite extreme. I can't think of any major issue where he's staked out something close to a middle ground. Maybe people expect him to reverse course and moderate during a general election. It would seem that is his modus operandi - to change positions according to electoral needs. But I don't think that happens without consequences.

Rubio destroyed Ted Cruz last night. I thought he did very well stepping out of character and spit balling at him. The audience loved it, we will see what the voters say.

Problem is he destroyed Cruz on something he was guilty of going left on. I liked the Rubio/Schumer immigration deal, but now Rubio is trying to distance himself from what he did by saying Cruz did the same. I'm not sure if that is any better. Cruz has a pretty good ad group, and they will blast Rubio this week.

Jeb owned them both when he said these are two senators (Cruz and Rubio) arguing over arcane bills that did not pass.
