Socialism does control some large corporations such as: auto industry and resource based industries. When you think about it our government was in control of the auto industry with its recent bailout, and could be in control of the oil industry if an oil bailout is on the horizon.

Bailouts = socialism. Capitalism would let that business fail.

We would all be driving Fords after 2008.

The great thing is we can pull what works best from all systems if we are intelligent and don't "build a wall" between us and different ideas. I don't think anyone is calling for all out Socialism. Universal healthcare, post secondary educational opportunities for all, and stock market regulations that don't gamble away our economy.
Obama was all about the bailouts.

Companies should be allowed to fail. Wait though, Obama couldn't let the automakers go under, look at all the union votes the Dems might lose.

Socialism is much more pervasive than you and hhshog62 realize. Your definition is way too narrow. For starters, dissect the word "commonwealth," as in Commonwealth of Kentucky. If that ain't socialism ... "common" and "wealth" ... I don't know what is.

That's what the framers intended, right?

Spin it any way you like.

I was pointing out that the way you were trying to use the term social worker was incorrect.

The spin with the italicized "social" was sort of a joke, but make no mistake: Having state-paid social workers check on at-risk kids is indeed a form of "socialism."

Actually, since Kentucky is officially a "commonwealth," one could argue that the founding fathers of our political entity intended us to be more socialist than our plain-state neighbors.

There you go again with your condescension. Socialism is everywhere in our society. What the Ft. Thomas GOP objects to is using tax dollars to pay for programs that benefit the least among us. The form of socialism known as the G.I. Bill is good. The form of socialism that provides food stamps is bad.

I read the Titles to the threads on this page...Donald is beating Clinton 13-4. It's funny the more people bash Trump, the more support he gains. People call him an idiot...but it's working... so is he really an idiot.

I am not necessarily a Trump supporter...I just find it funny he is working the system over right now.

Conservatives like higher-end socialism -- government programs that provide corporate welfare and huge tax breaks to billionaires like the Koch Brothers and their involvement in the Big River Steel project in Arkansas.

Heaven forbid any of this government money be used to help people down on their luck.

I'm confused, in post #66 you said the form of socialism that provides food stamps is bad. Now your saying heaven forbid any of the government money be used to help people down on their luck? lol

Trump retweeted something calling Megyn Kelly a bimbo.

I'm sorry but it's just sad and pathetic that a single person supports this clown.
