Is Your Neighbor a Democrat? Obama Has an App for That - ProPublica

The app, released last week, includes a Google map for canvassers that recognizes your current location and marks nearby Democratic households with small blue flags.

For each targeted address, the app displays the first name, age and gender of the voter or voters who live there: "Lori C., 58 F, Democrat."


All this is public information, which campaigns have long given to volunteers. But you no longer have to schedule a visit to a field office and wait for a staffer to hand you a clipboard and a printed-out list of addresses.
With the Obama app, getting a glimpse of your neighbor's political affiliation can take seconds.

Pretty strong app.

Is this the app that's been competently named the FBDD (flaming bag of dog doo) app?

So what happens if your household is a mix of Democrat, Republican and Independent?

Wouldn't it be just as easy to look at the bumper stickers in the drive way?

One neighbor has an old VW bus and the other has a Hummer. I don't need no stinkin' app.

Or, you could actually talk to your neighbor. People used to do that you know. You can actually find out these kinds of things when you hold real live conversations with them.

I have. One is perpetually spaced out, and the other does nothing but yammer about paying too many taxes to support deadbeats like the other neighbor.

My comment was not directed at you but at the thread subject matter. People don't know their neighbors nearly as well as they used to. I think that's sad.

No worries; just trying to interject a little levity. My tongue was firmly in cheek.

I thought so, just didn't want you to take offense where none was intended. When I offend someone I try to let them know.
