2nd Region District Tournaments Preview & Predictions

By WKY - 5th District Tournament @ Trigg County 2/20 6:00 PM #2 Lyon County (18-9) vs. #4 Trigg County (6-19) The Lady Lyons have put together a nice record considering what they graduated last year. They are still a tough defensive team in the half court and still shoot the ball well. The Lady Cats have had to endure yet another rebuilding season, only capturing region wins against Fort Campbell. Their first 2 matchups saw Lyon County walk away victorious by double digits. I would expect more of the same in this matchup. Lyon County by 10-15 points. 2/20 7:30 PM #1 Crittenden County (23-7) vs.... Read More →

Inside the 15th Region (Final Rankings / Awards / District Preview)

By 15th Region - 2016-2017 15th Region Season Review - District Tournament's Preview 15th Region Overview: This has been one of the most competitive and fun seasons in many years within the 15th. There have been no truly dominate teams that can compete with anyone in the state, but they have been able to have some great games amongst themselves. Johnson Central, Magoffin County, Sheldon Clark, and Pikeville have all separated themselves as favorites as it would not be shocking if any of them made the trip to RUPP Arena. South Floyd, Lawrence County, and East Ridge have established themselves as solid... Read More →

Inside the 6th Region (02/20/2017)

4th Region Final Rankings and Postseason Preview (2-20-17)

By DragonFire - Final Rankings and Postseason Preview 1. Bowling Green (27-2) High Rank - 1, Low Rank - 1, Average Rank - 1 It’s been 23 straight weeks at the top of the region rankings for Bowling Green, which is unsurprising given their 43 game region winning streak. The Purples have done nothing the entire year to besmirch their reputation as the frontrunner in the region, and as one of the most dominant teams in the state. The season has tracked remarkably similar to last year’s run. The Purples dropped a couple of games in the King of the Bluegrass, and didn’t lose again until the postseason. ... Read More →

By All State Baseball - 1.West Carter (23-5): The Comets are blazing right now and at the right time. West Carter has won 11 straight to end the regular season. Their latest victim was Ashland. Although the Comets had to go in OT to get the job done, they came away with a 63-61 victory over the Tomcats. The Comets will now turn their attention to Morgan County and district tournaments. The Comets won both regular season meetings but less than 15 points in both games. 2.Elliott County (21-3): The Lions won both of their remaining games last week, cruising by both Boyd County 82-59 and Russell 69-47, with both... All district tournaments have been set and now teams are simply focused on getting to next week's district tournament healthy. Here is where each team ranks heading in to the final week: 1. Covington Catholic (23-5) The Colonels extended their win streak to 11 games with a 56-39 win over #3 Dixie Heights but would see that win streak end just two days later as they fell to Dunbar, 81-62, in the Colonels worst loss of the season. Inside the 3rd Region (2/13)

By ApolloFan98 - As we head into the final week of the regular season, there is a shake up at the top of the standings. Up to this point, it appears that Catholic, Hancock and Apollo are all playing some of their best basketball of the season. There isn't much separating the 3 at the top. Ohio County and Muhlenberg County are two teams that can beat anyone on any given night. Owensboro has proven to be a thorn in the side of Catholic this season, and play them in an elimination game in the 9th district tournament. A win there could set the Devils up for a run through the tourney. Daviess County is... Read More →

10th Region Recap and Rankings - 2/13/17

By mcpapa - One more easy week of the regular season remains. District matchups are set. A bit of movement in the top four, with what looks to be a significant gap between our number 4 and number 5. Here's hoping everybody gets healthy and is able to play at full strength, as injuries and illness still plague several squads. 1. Campbell County (24-4, 10-1 region). A 1-2 week slowed the Camels down, starting with their first home-court loss of the season to Simon Kenton. The reliable duo of Bertsch and Heygi led the Camels with 26 and 16 with Hegyi battling illness. Next came a 31-point romp... Read More →

Inside the 13th Region (02-13-17)

By Les - 1. Corbin (21-4 overall, 13-2 vs. 13th Region opponents) The Redhounds snapped Harlan County’s 23-game home win streak and eight-game win streak during last week’s 73-61 win. Corbin looks to be peaking at the right time. 2. Knox Central (22-5, 11-3) The Panthers are blowing everyone out. They have a solid match-up with Cordia tonight, and will finish regular season play against North Laurel. 3. North Laurel (22-5, 11-3) The Jaguars keep on rolling, and have two important games against Corbin and Knox Central coming up. The key to both games will be if Bryan Gray will be good to go...
