    Default Ghost fish?

Decided to go fishing last night in the main Licking River, up towards Visalia. The river is up about 2 to 3 feet, and still raising slowly. Thought it should be a good night. Shortly before dark, clicker started singing, and the handles flying backwards. I picked up my rod, caught the handle, line tightened, felt the fish pulling. BAM, I set the hook, or I thought. Nothing there. Didn't even feel much, if anything on the other end. Reeled in my line, my bait pretty much in tact. I added a little more bait to my circle hook and cast back in. This very drama played out over and over until around 11:00, when my eagerness to fish had completely vanished. There were fish moving, I saw two channel cats surface right at the bank where I was fishing. Yes I did have a line in right at the bank. Same thing on that pole. Any ideas, my guess is Gar?
