    Default Fishing Areas in NKY

Can anyone help me with some places to fish? I go to Casterlines and Chaps all the time but was wanting some other places to fish. I refuse to go to AJ Jolly and catch the little yellow belly catfish too. Thanks

Pond in my backyard has some killer catfish and bass in it. But it's very, very expensive to fish at this private pond.

Where is Mike Finks? One of my dads friends pulled a 40 pound catfish down by where Hooters is with a McDonalds french fry.

Finks is in Covington. We used to go down there and pull 10 to 15 pounders out all the time while the folks leaving from dinner would clap. All the old fogeys were fascinated by the size of the fish. Hilarious. We used chicken livers and White Castle fries.

I used to think the same thing till someone took me boating last year. You could actually get into the river and see your feet. this was up past Dayton, Ky. It was cleaner than Cumberland!!
I was shocked to say the least. The locals have done a good job cleaning up the river.

Doesn't mean that those fish haven't been exposed to Mercury (Hg) or and PCB (polychlorinated benzene) contamination. You have to watch out, just because it is clear doesn't mean a thing.

Another good spot is down off Route 8 in Silver Grove right across the river from Coney Island and Riverbend. Its a nice sand beach and we pull nice sized fish out of there all the time.

I found a website that is all around NKY fishing areas, cincypaylakes.com. They are all pay lakes in NKY or Cincy areas.

I believe its ORSANCO that publishes its recommendation each year of how many and how often certain species of fish caught in the Ohio River should be consumed. As I recall, the greatest concern is with catfish. For the record, I've consumed fish out of the Ohio River with no ill effects (well, at least none that I aware of ).

Your right LN. ORSANCO is a great resource for water quality data and species conditions in the Ohio River. They're located on Kellogg Ave and have several test areas along the river that are monitored daily.

As for your ill effects, I'll wait for another thread!

I was out yesterday on our boat and looking where I think you are talking about. It sure does look like a great spot to fish. Is this the property that is split by the creek at the bottom of 1998. Is there access to that by car and who owns that property. Do you need permission to fish from the shore. I have heard that it is under new ownership.

Well then you have some of those same ill effects my friend; just what do you think is in some of those dishes that Henry prepares for tailgates and after game parties?
