Xbox 720 (rumor thread)
For the past couple of months a lot of details have been leaked about the supposed Xbox 720.
1. Blu ray drive
2. 6x more powerful than the current Xbox
3. No used games allowed. Would have to go to ign.com to read about that more.
4. Would have something similar to a tablet controller.
I can not wait for this to become a reality, the console is what I'm talking about. I doubt it'll be unveiled at E3 this year but we will no more by the end of the year I'm sure.
Right now they are figuring a holiday 2013 launch.

I've heard they want to get 5 more years out of the 360.

I'm not sure what you mean by no used games allowed, unless your trying to say it won't be backwards compatable with the 360.

I'm fairly certain I read that they expected Halo 4 would come out on current generation hardware and then subsequent releases would be on the next gen hardware. Halo 4 is slated for release during the 2012 holiday season, so I'd have to think we get at least another 2 years of the 360, since I don't think they would turn around and abandon the system right away after releasing one of their flagship titles.

^ That is dumb. I highly doubt I will be getting that.

Unless Sony and Nintendo plan to implement the same type of technology, looks like Microsoft might be the big loser in the next generation console wars.

Really that technology is similar to what a lot of the games are already doing. EA Sports has done it with a lot of their games where it comes with an online access code when you buy it brand new. If you buy it used some where then you have to buy an access code seperately to be able to play the game online.

Will you be able to play old Xbox games on it? That's drives me crazy when a new system comes out.

^ I read that even when a new Xbox comes out thu sill still market the 360 unlike they did with the original Xbox when the 360 came out.

So I just read the article and really that's what a lot of video game developers are already doing with the online passes so I'm not really too surprised. I'm not sure how much longer video game stores are going to be around either, you're already able to download games directly to your box so they run better and can download games off of the Xbox live Marketplace.

I dunno, it seems like the online pass is kind of the bridge to the no used games gig but it's hard to say for sure because they haven't announced any thing official. I'm sure at this point they're releasing idea info to the public and trying to get a feeler for how the gaming community responds. Let's not kid ourselves though, ultimately if they think they can make more money by not allowing used games then we know what direction they will take.
