Laissez-les manger de la soupe. Seriously, though, like Mustang said, I'm just not a big fan. I go there, but only when I have to.

Stores in his area were notorisly bad for years, but turned around a few years ago. I don't doubt he went into some bad stores back in the day. Just like Wiremans local Walmart is always out of everything, the Somerset store is completely different.

Sam's and Cotsco's are different. You agree to show them the receipt when you sign up for the membership.

Best Buy does this as well -- why aren't we showing the same outrage there?

I have zero issue if they want to look at my receipt and cross it with what is in my bag / cart. Why would I care?

Is this a new policy at Best Buy? I've never had to show my receipt there, but again, I haven't shopped at one in years.

There has been a guy sitting in a kiosk with his back to the door, randomly checking receipts / bags / carts, for as long as I can remember.

Really, I thought you'd care more about your fellow tri-countians than that.

I understand not going there...but to wish that no one would really impact a lot of really really good people.

Feel the same about Best buy? They have people on the floor that do nothing but follow customers around making sure nothing gets stolen, as well has a loss prevention guy right at the exit.

So if theft is going up, the receipt checking policy, isn't actually doing much good is it?

It's funny you mention warehouses and eliminating opportunities. I happen to spend my days working on ways to remove the opportunity of theft for hundreds of stores and dozens of warehouses all over this side of the Mississippi.
Yes the vast majority of customers do not steal. However, like nearly every rule or law that we live with...they are in place because of the vast minority that can't live with common sense or decency.

The receipt checking does help, it was completely stopped at one point and walkout theft skyrocketed.

That may be the case, and maybe they've improved, but they've forever lost my business with how gross they were. As soon as the Target opened in Newport, I stopped going to Wal-Mart and have never been given a reason to return.

Yeah those NKY/Cincy stores were pits for a long time, it was where you went for your career to die. Biggest (pay) promotion I was ever offered was to go to NKY...I politely declined.

Staples did check my receipt the other day when I picked up 6 online orders I had. Had all the orders in one shopping cart, the lady watched me at the online pickup desk, and just asked to see the receipts before I went out the door.
