If the parents were negligent in some way letting this animal get the guns then I have no issue with civil and even criminal penalties for them. Part of responsible gun ownership is storing the safely.

He didnt say they were only used for killing, he said thatís what they were designed for. Which is correct. Thereís a difference.

Some states have “child-access prevention” laws in place already. Kentucky had one introduced late last year for discussion this year. I think it should be nationwide.

While no state has penalties like you’ve proposed, they are also focused on accidental shootings in the home from kids finding a fun laying around. I think those laws need to be expanded to cover shootings like these, ones that are intentional. And those cases need to have more serious crimes for those that allow non-legal owners (i.e. kids) to access and use their guns.

He said..."The purpose of guns is strictly to kill something. Nothing more. Nothing less."

That seems pretty cut and dried....but it's all good.

That is the purpose of guns. Period. They don’t do anything else. You can play the target practice role all you want but fact of the matter is that guns weren’t invented for the purpose of target practice. They were invented to kill things in a quick manner. Period.

I'm not arguing with you, just posting what you said for Deuce.

Which means that’s what they are made for... Not that they can’t be used for anything else.

Something else I think should be looked into - personal self awareness and interpersonal skills. I believe there should be a class on this at the 7th and 8th grade levels. These are the toughest years for adolescents. Take health class and make part of the core curriculum teaching students how to get in touch with who they are and how they should interact with those around them. Make sure diversity, culture, religion, etc. are discussed. Kids need to learn to respect and care for each other and build personal connections with classmates.

Itís not like this kid was 3 years old and happened upon his dadís gun. He knew what he was doing.
So if he took his dadís car keys and ran over some others, dadís at fault?
    Always blaming someone else.

What else do you do with them? Vacuum the floors? Clean windows? Mow the lawn? Please let me know. I had no idea there were so many things a gun could do until yesterday.
