No, it is called tolerance. And that's this thread. TOLERANCE.

Who decides how holidays are classified? Today's history books have chapters devoted solely to educate the majority about the beliefs of the minority. They will not learn about Ash Wednesday, but they will learn about Ramadan and similar religious holidays and minority celebrations. Why are educators, especially our administrators and the department heads who select which books are used in the classroom, trying to purge our country of the very same ideals that our ancestors died to protect? I am all for diversity but not at the expense of what another person must give up to achieve it.

[QUOTE=Clyde;5840325]America history is an easy one. It is to be taught. Not sure why we are debating that.
The American History books my grandchildren are being educated from are not "American History". It's someone's history but it isn't "American" history. I love history and genealogy, and not just my own, my husband and I spend some vacations just visiting local historical societies in a number of states. Those who do not learn from history are bound to repeat it. This still comes down to tolerance and respect, be it in the classroom or athletic fields.

You don't like the direction public schools are heading, the solution is very simple. Send your kids to private schools. Simple as that.

Will you spare a few silver spoons with that solution?

It is our tax dollars that fund these schools so we should have a say in what goes on in them!

If those values and holidays are so important to you, pay it. Otherwise, they really don't matter much it would seem.

And I've never seen a private school turn a student away because of financial difficulties. Not once.

I would pay it in a heartbeat if there was a private school in my area.

I would imagine when choosing an area to live and raise a family that the school systems would play a major factor in that decision.
