Kroger to Start Selling Narcan Without Prescription

Kroger stores to sell Narcan without prescription in southwest Ohio, Northern Kentucky - Story

We've had a lot of talks about heroin, figured this deserved it's own thread.

Not sure I'm for this but got mixed feelings.

    Thoughts?

I think Walgreens is going to set up a Kiosk as well. I think it's sad and pathetic in so many different ways. I'm not mad at Kroger or any company for realizing there is a market for Narcan. It's just sad that society is essentially excepting heroin use as something that can't be stopped. Our communities have decided to support heroin users in hopes of saving lives that they must facilitate them.

I'm not going to lie I may be caught "people watching" when I see folks buying Narcan. Although I'm sure some that purchase it will be doing so only because they fear a loved on may overdose.

I was talking to a paramedic about this yesterday and one thing I will say is they'd better buy multiple Narcan doses. He said that any more it's very common for Narcan to have to be administered 2-3 times before people respond.

I don't get why some are against saving the life of a person who ODs.

Should a paramedic stop life-saving procedures at the scene of an accident when they realize the injured was driving drunk? Texting while driving?

These people are obviously trying to end their life, why should we interfere and save them?

So how drunk before they paramedic walks away? .01? Legally drunk? Are you saying they should administer a BA test before starting?

Should they examine a phone before they start ?

There's a major difference between those two groups and these people, but hey, keep on with the awful comparison.
