My takeaway from this discussion is that the Jesus described in the New Testament was apolitical, was a communalist, castigated the rich and embraced the poor. I suspect that if Jesus was with us in person today, he probably wouldn't even be registered to vote and most certainly wouldn't be asked to ring the opening bell on the New York Stock Exchange.
If Jesus lived today he would be killed....just like a little over 2000 years ago by the non believers and people who used his words to defend their sinful nature. Take note fellas.

When TTP resorts to attempts at belittling a person or a group(which he often does), even he knows he's lost the debate.

I always know when I'm making headway. That's when you chime in with the "Who can take you seriously?" quips and start posting those photos and cartoons with the captions you made up. Yep. Real mature.

By the way, there's no debate to be won or lost. Never is. The discussion topic was a good one, but unfortunately, some people can't talk about the historical Jesus without quoting John 3:16 and thinking that this thread is yet another Commie attack on their faith system.

You hang on to that little glimmer of hope.
Don't blame me because you sometimes make outlandish statements. And, just to be clear, I didn't make any of those memes in this thread.

So far as the thread being a good one, like anything else that's debatable. It seems you're just about the only one that agreed with the author of the thread.

You're forgetting what He said after that:

25 When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, “Who then can be saved?”
26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
