Examples of the narrow thinking behind Prop 20

In the Courier Journal Today, Jim Sexton (Eastern High School Principal) and Beverly Keepers (Manual High School Principal) were quoted on why they support Prop 20.
Mr Sexton described the proposal as "a last ditch effort by the public schools to send a message that we're tired of students that don't reside, that don't belong to you representing private schools"
Mrs./Ms. Keepers said "we feel that there's an advantage that they (non-public schools) have, and you only have to look at state championships..."

Apparently Mr. Sexton doesn't realize that kids do not belong to him or a school district. Kids belong to parents. It is assinine of him to think otherwise.
How can Beverly Keepers talk about being disadvantaged at Manual? Isn't Manual the highest rated academic school in the county? Can't they get students from anywhere in Jefferson County? These people are infuriating!

As a parent, the mindset that my kids belong to a particular school or district is very offensive.

I am responsible for my own children and I can promise you I will always do what was right for them.

I forgot to post it earlier on this thread and put it in another thread but I think it's funny that Sexton's own kids, while residing in Eastern's ditrict, attended Male. I guess when it comes to his own kids, they don't belong to Eastern High School like the other kids in the district.

I have heard there is Colonel pipeline in Ft. Thomas and it runs right through my hood. I can't verify it, but I have heard it.

That's what's so funny to me about the whole thing. I understand the gripe they are making but schools like Manual have open enrollment which takes kids that live closer to other schools. They are just as guilty as the schools they are accusing! None of the private schools have been found guilty of any recruiting but the rational that these people use is that they recruit because they get kids that should go to other schools because they live closer to those schools. Hello the Male's and Manuals get those kids too!
