Calling the Highlands baseball team "Dirty Birds" is a GROSS understatement

As to your second comment, sounds like many Highlands supporters wants to just move on too.
Keep quoting NC law since they were not in North Carolina. Another example of making statements without the correct facts.

I would say that is too light. It's a tough situation, there's the extreme, expulsion then there is the light which is this. I think people wanted somewhere in between.

I also stand corrected, I had put SC in some of my earlier posts but when someone noted NC I changed mine as I did not know where the team was at the time of the incident. All I'm sure of is it was not Campbell Co.

I don't do twitter and seldom do facebook. Things like this keep me away and make me appreciate BGP type sites.

Here is some of the Twitter exchange including someone calling him weak. I looked at that geniuses twitter feed. It includes a picture of someone mooning out of a motel window. Obviously a mental giant.

Pretty sure WCPO was at Highlands as well on Wednesday asking questions. Has anyone seen their report or was it not newsworthy enough for them?

I understand that the disgusting nature of this issue has influenced some, but I also honestly believe that had this happened at any other school, there would be substantially less interest in this. This, to me,
Absolutely true. The more prestigious and recognized a program, the more interest generated. That's life!!

Here is my take and stance on this FWIW.

    - The punishment sends the wrong message to kids. Perception could be that because they are good athletes they get a slap on the hand.
    - The school should make a statement admonishing the behavior and supporting their stance. The fact that they remain silent just further proves to me they took the wrong stance.
    - I feel for the victim and the family and if they want to move on then and get past it then we all should honor that.
    - Mistake or not the kids who were involved need to man up and issue a formal apology to the victim and his family. If it were my son I would make that happen ASAP.
-Highlands High School should not be pigeonholed for this one incident and it should not be assumed that hazing has been going on for years. It is an outstanding educational institution with a lot of good people. A few bad apples shouldn't spoil the entire bunch. Kids tweeting about things from the past is just hearsay and remember they are 18-20 yr old kids.

This is a permanent black eye on one of the top schools in the state, the light punishment will continue to feed the crowd with plenty of popcorn. As I said before its a tough situation, but they should have went the "make a statement route" to close the book on this.

It is pretty embarrassing for the Highlands program. Even small incidents at Marquee schools become big news. This in my opinion is no small thing.

From reading some of these posts its seems some of you want this to be true so bad and want this to be worse case for all involved just to stick it to Highlands. It's pretty sad.

I guess they haven't figured out yet that once you put something on social media, you can't just delete it.

This will be off the radar before the end of the season and probably a lot sooner than that. You know it, I know it and the administration is counting on it.

Yup, and like I posted before. I am somewhat shocked at some of the kids who favorited the tweets blowing this off like it was nothing. It speaks volumes and even though they didnt make the tweet, the fact that they are marking it a favorite is just as bad IMO.
