I'm not a fan of calling a pit bull worse than any other dog. When I watch my nephew who is less than a year old, I have my eyes on him or my dog the whole time. It is whoever is in charge of the baby's responsibility to keep the baby safe.

You can be a fan or not, here are the stats:

Those stats came from this site: Dog Attack Deaths and Maimings, U.S. & Canada, September 1982 to December 31, 2014 - By Merritt Clifton - DogsBite.org

I'm not clamoring for their complete validity, but there are similar stats on the same issues on multiple sites

Wow. I must admit that is astounding. My only problem is my damn political beliefs don't allow me to justify government controlling what type of dog I can buy (not that you were implying we need that). You can certainly make a case for it though.

I have 3 Huskies and they are never left with my grandson unattended. At the same time my grandson will never be left unattended at our house.

Sure, but every dog pales in comparison to the pit, and by a ridiculous margin.

Yeah but the dog makes the man such a gangsta -- . I know not all are like that but lots of time its insecurity of the owner about their own masculinity that leads them to get the biggest baddest dog on the planet .

I don't disagree. Just saying that regardless of the breed of dog no one should ever leave young kids alone with dogs.

As with guns, I would suggest that those that don't feel comfortable owning pit bulls not own them. I would also suggest that those that own pit bulls (or any other dog) monitor them at all times around children. I don't agree with NOT allowing people to own guns and I don't agree with NOT allowing people to own pits or any dog breed.

I also do not allow her around children as she is very nervous with them and I am not confident that she wouldn't push a kid down. Though she has never bitten anyone or another dog, I'm not taking that chance with a kid, either. I know pits that I'd feel much more confident around kids than I would my dog, but I wouldn't leave any child unattended with any dog.

In the end, whether it be guns or dogs, it comes down to responsible ownership.
