    Recruiting companies

Just asking for opinions about advantages and disadvantages of using recruiting companies for more exposure for high school football players??These companies make the athletes resume and distribute to college coaches, some have websites , and some will make highlight tapes. Any opinions?????

I have not personally used a service, but I have taken by son to Offense-Defense football camps for the last 3 years and I have talked to college coaches about recruiting services and I can tell you what they say.

9 out 10 said they do not give any weight to the services, they say they like to see a player send his own resume. They also said that alot of these services do not do what they say they will do, and are not worth the money.

    Hope this helps.

Your head coach will do a better job than these company's. Just send them coleges film and get your son to a senior camp. Dont waste money on any other camp. College coaches only really look at kids at there senior camps.

The fees these services charge are rather expensive. The cheapest of packages offered is in the thousands and all they will do for that is mail a letter and profile of the student athlete. Throw in films and other promotional material and it really gets expensive. The head coach, the parents and the student athlete are more than capable of getting all of this done at a mere fraction of cost. Yes some time is involved but is more than worth it.

Thanks so much for the advice. We thought with our coaches help that we are doing the right things without the use of recruiting companies.

So I guess they should go to as many senior camps as they can.....

You can do all what the companies can do.

Send tapes to the colleges, find the phone numbers and e-mails of all the coaches in colleges, and talk with them. The schools website has all of this either on the athletic or school web site, very easy to find. You will be working for one client (your son) and not hundreds of clients like these companies you do the math.

Don’t forget the senior day camps, very cheep and in front of the coaches eyes.

We cuurently are using a company and it has definetely helped spread the word. I know they are only letters and questionnaires but we have received letters from some schools that we would have never imagined before. get back in touch after senior signing and I will be able to tell you if it truly paying off. If you have the time to take care of all the letters, films, calls, on-line questionnaires go for it on your own. I spent an entire spring break working on this this past spring. it is a coin toss. If you are from a small school it could help. Big program with plenty of hisory you already have plenty of programs looking. hope it helps
