Hottest College Sport?VOLLEYBALL!! For the 2nd year in a row, volleyball dominated the list of requests I received from college coaches for players. In 2002, 215 college volleyball coaches sent requests for recruitable players to National Scouting Report.
2nd was girls basketball with 140.
Volleyball may not be the most popular forum here, but it is the most popular sport based on college coaches interest in prospective student-athletes. If you have the ability to play, there is a college somewhere that wants you!!
I sent out one of my "senior blitz" broadcasts on a Roger Bacon (Cincinnati) volleyball player last week...a 5'9" hitter. She has had requests for video from 14 schools so far!Advertisement

I'm surprised I figured it would be baseball. How many girls were taken from the Louisville area, or is that personal information.

I really don't know how many were taken out of Louisville. I would only know of those I help (one from Louisville just committed to Lynn U, a DII in Florida) or others I hear of (I think Assumptions' Kate Bean is going to Akron or Toledo).
Baseball is way down on the list...girls sports are the top 5...
2. Girls' Basketball
4. Girls' Soccer
5. Girls' Track/XC

Jan 25, 03, 09:22 PM #5Hey NCR, What about Cheerleading? Girls and Guys.
Jan 25, 03, 11:11 PM #6Cheerleading...funny situation. It's a growing sport (girls and guys), and college coaches definitely recruit, but - per NCAA rule - they are currently NO athletic scholarships for cheerleading. That means that any compensation comes in the form of institutional funding and academic money.
We (NSR) do have cheerleaders as clients (go to www.nsr-inc.com, click on student-athletes, then male or female, then Cheerleading as the sport), but I currently do not.
A very good friend of mine runs Northern Kentucky ELITE cheerleading, and has been bugging me to get involved. It's just a sport I am not quite comfortable with yet. If people come to me asking for help, I'll give it, but I am not proactively recruiting cheerleaders.
Jan 27, 03, 01:39 PM #7I am glad to see that girls's sports are at the top of the list. As far as cheerleading is concerned, nsr, go to a competition, bet you'll have fun!
Jan 27, 03, 01:50 PM #8My neighbor will probably force me to do just that at some point. I'll keep you posted.
