    College Recruiting

I don't know if I should post this here or in the recruiting section because its not a question on recruiting a specific player but more generally speaking. While sitting in the student section at ND this past Saturday, I noticed a couple of Trinity shirts down at the bottom of my section. I was talking with Jake Carney (graduated from Lex Cath last year and plays for us now) and he said that one of them was Brohm. Now for my questions:

    1) What is the earliest that colleges can begin talking to players?

2)Is there a different rule for phone calls as opposed to letters?

3)Wouldn't it be nice to see Brohm in a nice shiny gold helmet?

    1. NCAA football coaches can call a prospective student-athlete during the month of May of their junior year in HS, then again not until September 1. Football is an exception. For other sports, NCAA DI coaches can call July 1 after the junior year, NCAA DII coaches can call June 15, and NCAA DIII coaches can call as soon as the junior year is complete. NAIA coaches can all anytime.

    2) NCAA coaches can't send information (media guides, promotional material, schedules) about their athletic program until September 1 of the junior year. They CAN send questionnaires anytime.

    3) If you are Notre Dame and Jeff Brohm fan, yes, I guess?

Yeah, I don't really want Jeff playing for ND in a couple of years.

    Jeff Brohm

I don't doubt that Jeff is still good enough to play for ND ... but I do believe that the NCAA would have something to say about it.

I wouldn't mind seeing Brian in red.

I don't want to speak for Brian but when I asked him how his visit to ND was he just said "it was ok." and at dinner the other night someone asked him if he liked it and he kind of made a face. he did say he wanted to go north though. just thought i'd add that in to this discussion

I have it from a good source that he said that the game itself was just ok but the atmosphere was great

Well I probably misinterpreted it, you're probably right. I don't like talking to him about football much, he's got everybody else for that, he doesn't need another person! But at ND he'd get redshirted, woudln't he? I figure he'd want to start and I'm sure he would at UL or UK.
