Enrollment doesn't wait until everything comes out. Neither did Penn State. It was a good call anyway.

I don't disagree with the reason or decison, it's bowing to pressure, I don't do that.

Or maybe PSU didn't want to deal with people trying to vandalize it fighting with people trying to protect it. They've dealt with enough already and if the statue is a lightning rod to controversy and hard feelings then it should be removed.

Think about it this way. Penn State has to sell their institution every day. They and every other college needs to put their best foot forward for every person that walks their campus. If you walk the campus or walk into a football game and see that statue, what do you think right now? Is there anything positive for the university in having that statue up? I don't think so. Put all the moral arguments to the side and just think about the marketing side and it is a pretty easy decision.

Anybody that is upset that the Paterno statue is being taken down, should just look the other way and pretend that nothing is happening. That's what Joe did.

I completely agree and that's what many still do not realize. This has not only affected the football program; it's affected everything to do with the school and its community. If moving on, rebuilding, and anything else associated with change, I believe that Penn State needs to be completely separated from anything to do with Paterno, Sandusky, Spannier, and others. If not, there's no way of moving on.

And that is the legacy of the statue. There is no way anybody could look at it and not relate it to the scandal. It had to go.

One of the guys I worked with posed this question.
Does the Big Ten keep Penn State as a member?
Hadn't really thought about it till now.

They absolutely will. It's tough enough punishing the people that had nothing to do with it in the football program but then you'd be punishing all sports.

I am not in favor of giving Conference Commissioners that type of authority.

You don't want those in charge of the conference to approve who is in their conference?

As far as firing coaches, no I am not.

Agreed. Can't have a conference commish firing coaches, especially if they aren't doing the hiring, too.

I understand what you're saying about punishing the inocent.
I guess I would ask, "Is Penn St a liability to the Big Ten?" "Do they tarnish other Big Ten schools?" "If the belief is that they tarnish the Big Ten and it's members, aren't you punishing inocent people by not kicking them out?"
I haven't chosen a side on this yet, just asking questions.

I wouldn't like that either.

IMO, that's a stretch. Just my opinion.

I don't disagree that it's a stretch.
Here's another one. "Are they a financial liability to the conference?" Who ever is playing them is probably not going to be televised. Meaning no TV revenue when you play PSU. As a member school, do you want to take that hit? We all know money rules.
