I think the 'Cuse move was more bsketball based than football. Their program is always a prenninal contender for conference title and a sweet sixteen showing.

Also, I would even venture to say that the ACC welcomed the 'Cuse move because of their lacrosse tradition in addition to football and basketball. Duke is usually a top rated lacrosse team. It would put 2 of the top 10 programs in the same conference.

I understand that forcing Notre Dame to play football in the conference would be of interest to the Big East, but why does Notre Dame have to stay in the Big East? If the conference pushed Notre Dame, couldn't they just go to the ACC or Big Ten? Those leagues would probably offer more financially anyway. And then you're left with nothing.

I'm an outsider on this but it seems that the Big East needs ND a lot more than ND needs the Big East.

Have they always been the NYC team or is that a more recent thing? I know in the past Syracuse was generally the stronger program, but that has reversed in recent years. My point being, if the Orange got back to winning, would Rutgers still be the favorite team in the area?
