There are plenty of factors that drive the decision of a student-athlete. Intended Major, Proximity to Home, Academic Schollys, etc.
My guess is there is plenty of talent on this team. Go Eagles!!

In comparison to other DI FCS teams, MSU is in the shallow end of the talent pool. EKU, Murray and even Austin Peay have more talent.

Congratulations to MSU QB Lawson Page who was named the Pioneer Football League Offensive Player of the Week, as well as, Honorable Mention Offensive Player of the Week in all of the FCS, for his performance against KCU last week.

    Lawson Page ( Collins HS, KY ) - 4 TDs, 1INT, 21-23 for 284 yds passing

Well done Lawson and continued success...

After eating humble pie on the road against Liberty and Austin Peay the Eagles host Pioneer Football League rival Dayton this Saturday at 1p in Morehead.

Hoping the two tough non-conference opponents benefit MSU when the rubber meets the road this weekend. GO EAGLES!

Austin Peay had a 29-game losing streak and they beat Morehead 69-13.

And MSU certainly didn't bring their A game. Austin Peay will beat teams in the OVC. I was impressed with them since the UC game. Their HC has done a good job putting the right pieces in place to bring future success.

Again from a conference standpoint, the season begins Saturday for the Eagles!!!

I agree. Somehow Peay landed a really good recruiting class this past offseason. They will win some games. As far as Morehead is concerned, I wish them luck. I hope they compete for the Pioneer League title.

Just getting home and able to post from yesterdays barn burner in Morehead yesterday afternoon. It was a thrilla.

MSU struck first and then the Flyers established their ground attack going up two scores 21-7 before the half. The Eagles made adjustments and plays to get back in the game in the 4th and eventually to win it with less than a minute.

The Flyers had a chance to tie with 3 seconds remaining and were unable to complete a pass in the endzone with double coverage. This is the Eagles first win against Dayton since 2008, who was a pre-season PFL pick to win the conference.

So the last two games of eating humble pie against better opponents did pay dividends yesterday. Iron does sharpen iron. Well done and congrats MSU Eagles...!!!

I'm too busy taking pics to track injuries. I'm not sure of Robertos status.

UD beat a "scholly" school, SE Missouri St, a couple weeks ago. And lost by less than a score to Robert Morris and Dusquene. I tell you that to tell you this. EKU plays SE Missouri St this weekend.

    * and Austin Peay won another game against an OVC school.

Well, I've got to report the bad with the good. Tough day Saturday at Campbell University in NC. The Eagles didn't get off the ground and were shut out 38-0.

Campbell dominated the trenches and MSU didn't have an answer to stop the Camels running attack. Saturdays team was a far cry from the team I saw against Dayton. The Eagles have the week to get back on a good foot and prepare to battle Butler at home on Saturday afternoon.
