EKUís Mark Elder Released as head coach.

EKU football has released Mark Elder and has hired Walt Wells from Kentucky as the new head coach.

Wells was at EKU previously under Roy Kidd.

Kinda surprised by this as I thought Elder did a good job recruiting the state. In 4 years he turned around EKU football. Always hard to compete with so many Div 1 and NAIA schools in Kentucky.

I wouldn't say he turned around EKU. Dean Hood was a good football coach...Elder was respectable this year. I haven't seen a lot of the fact he recruited the state well.

When EKU had great teams under Coach Kidd they had a pipeline from Florida. If the new coach worked for Roy he must be older. Coach Kidd was there almost 40 years ago but stayed a long time.

Elder shouldn’t have been let go. Hood either. Both are good coaches, and good coaches need time.

I hope they give Wells time.
