    Dalton Cissell to UL

Surprised no one's started a thread on this!

Dalton Cissell, one of the most prolific running backs in state history, has turned down a scholarship offer at the Naval Academy and will walk-on at the University of Louisville.

You don't really get a football scholarship to go to Navy, but they do pay all their students to attend. I liked him as a Middie, that's where I thought he fit, so perhaps a bit wistful, but heck, Dalton, go for it! I hope he makes it. Great competitor.

Good Luck Dalton! I agree he is a heck of a competitor and a fine young man.

Obviously U of L is getting a nice young player, I hope he works his way into the lineup somewhere in the next 2-3 seasons.

The young man stated he would have to attend prep school before attending the Naval Academy. I'm guessing he may not have qualified at many places to play right away. Not trying to be mean spirited, just trying to place the facts on the table.

I saw him play only once, as a freshmen versus Male at Fairdale. He was a man amongst boys in that contest. I saw him compete several times in powerlifting meets. I hope he pushes the backs at U of L.

I suspect he will be a fullback or a defensive player.

I would think he is referring to attending the Naval Prep school which is not to be misconstrued with attending a prep school because you are a non-qualifier.

The military academies each have preparatory schools to get some of their men up to the very high academic standards they set forth. The military academy academic standards greatly exceed many of those other Division I schools in the NCAA.
